Hey this summer in late July I'm going to West Palm Beach for a week and was wondering if anyone could tell me about any good fishing spots or even tell me if the surf fishing is good?  Any help would be highly appreciated thanks!

Try the piers Juno or Lake Worth.
Southern Blvd. bridge, Boynton Inlet, Jupiter Inlet, the birdges around that area.
Or where ever you can dip your rod.
Not to many areas to surf fish.

Okay what kind of tackle do you advise because I live in PA and fish for trout and Bass which don't get very big. What kind of fish would I be targeting? Any tips would help thanks!

As for tackle a medium bass rod is fine, but as for targeting a fish salt water is a big ? Anything can come in from a small grunt to a large shark.
Off the piers the occasional Sail has been caught.
When you get here check with the local B+T shops for help, and log on to www.boatlessfishing.com its a local web site that covers the area from the keys to Jacksonville and beyond, but mainly South Florida.
    Good luck.

If you can make it, a trip to Okeechobee is well worth the time. Great bass and crappie fishing

I know I'm late. But in case someone stumbles across this thread i just wanted to mention Lake Okeeheelee Park and Lake Osbourne (John Prince park.)

Lake Okeeheelee is a Fish management area, so make sure you got that license and know the rules. Real good size bluegill, bass and channel cats. The largest "Big Catch" bass in Palm Beach county was caught here.

John Prince park isn't an FMA so no special bag limits, just the normal regulations and bag limits. It has a huge variety of species including Peacock bass, Sunshine bass and Speck. Enjoy, maybe I'll see some of y'all out and about.
Tip: Keep yer hooks very sharp

If you go surf fishing you will probably cagtch a lot of Whiting. It is a small fish that sometimne gets to 16 or 17 inches. Pompano is another small fish caught off the beach, they don't getg very bigh either. Every once in a while I'll catch a good sized red fish. All are excellent food fish.
