Ok Georgia, UncleTomJigs and I have discussed starting a Ga chapter of NAFC.  If any of ya'll are interested, let's see about getting this show on the road.

Middle Ga (Macon/Warner Robins)would be the meeting area because it seems Ga. members are scattered all over.
I understand that we can only be affiliated with NAFC in spirit because at this time the powers that be do not recognize "Chapters" and will offer no support.

This group would be for like minded folks with a love for fishing and having fun. We are already members of the same Fishing Club, most of the members which we will never meet, so why not get together ourselves and compare fish notes, fish stories and lies about that 500 pound crappie that got away when it pulled your boat into a tree stump!!!!

If we get enough interest we can start planning for our first meeting/get together.......sayyyyyy.....November----ish. Email me at wggrif@aol.com and let's see what we can do!!!

Sounds like we might be headed toward getting a chapter started!  If we meet in middle Georgia where would we meet?  I was thinking maybe at a restaurant where we might get a room to ourselves, probably close to the Interstate system--both I-75 and I-16 run through Macon.  I lived there for 18 years and if some of you would tell me what you are looking for I probably could come up with a place and directions.  Then we need to give some thought to time of meeting because you are looking at 3 or 4 hour drive there and the same back in one day.  Man, it is a big state!  I get excited about all the possibilities--there are several tackle companies in Georgia that might help with some door prizes if you want to go in that direction.  Come on and share your thoughts!  Uncle Tom  I'll be in Macon on Sunday, August 22 nd. if you are in the area.
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

Well there is 4 of us so far.....guess ya' gotta start somewhere!! I say that if WE are serious, let's just get together sometime in the latter part of Nov...after the 13th so rmurphy186 can make nice-nice to his wife on her B-day!!!! We can see where it goes from there. Maybe by then we will have some more folks interested. As far as where to meet....anywhere with good food!!!! We can eat and talk about how we want to proceed with the "Chapter" plan. I think we can hold off on the door prizes until we see what's gonna happen, but I'm with you on the issue. There are several small but good tackle shops that may be interested in donating as well for a "shamless plug" on the forums or web site if we decide one is needed.

I did get some info on the Wisconsin meeting I spoke about.....it IS NOT sanctioned by NAFC.....none of the meetings are....the meetings are just a bunch of friends that have met through the club and started meeting every year....still...might not be a bad road trip.

Let me know what ya'll think

Picking a place to meet and time probably ought to be our next priority.  I've been told that there is a good Barbecue restaurant on the same exit north of Macon where the Bass Pro Shop is.  There are a number of restaurants on that side of town--steak houses, etc.  Date wise we don't want to mess up birthday plans or Thanksgiving--looks like it will have to be first of the month.  See how many more we can get a rise out of.  Might be a good time to invite a friend to join NAFC.
    Any ideas?  Uncle Tom

Ok folks....we've had 130 or so views (most probably from us) and only 5 replies about the "Chapter". What do ya'll think. If we are going to continue, let's set tenative meet dates for Sat. Nov. 27 or Sat. Dec. 4  at 11am  at the BPS in Macon at the main entrance. From there we can go eat, drink and be merry!!!

Maybe suggestions for planning a fishing trip together might be something we could talk about, or where we want to go with the chapter etc. Uncle Tom, you might even give us a class on making our own jigs. So much to talk about so little time!!!

Suggestions. Comments or Criticisms are welcome.

Greg, either date is fine with me.  The only problem I have is I had decided to quit buying gas from BPS.  It just hit me that you probably were talking about Bass Pro Shops instead of the folks that dumped all that crude oil in the Gulf.  If we keep waiting on others it will never happen.  Set this date and at least we will have kicked it off.  Georgia bleeds football and deer hunting during those dates but you have to start somewhere.  I do both but will give up either date to get this chapter going.
Why not meet in BPS parking lot because the entrance winds through at least a mile or more?  Uncle Tom

deanbauerctu.......notice the posts were from last year. I tried to get it going like the meet they have in wisconsin..check out the lacrosse wi meet forum. They seem to have a kick butt time getting together every year!!  Even sent reminders AND tried again after the holidays thinking that the holidays might have gotten in the way. There wasn't enough interest here in Ga to get it going so I gave up...Sorry it didn't work!!
