Several weeks ago my oldest daughter that lives near Augusta ( Home of the Masters? Not the Bass Masters) came down to fish with her ole Dad. During her visit she told me they had closed Magnolia Springs State Park--just chained the gate and put "Closed sign up!" She knew it would aggrevate me because in that state park was a great fishing lake that only a few people fished in. She said she heard they found some bones but it was hush! hush! Come to find out hardly anyone knew but a handful of archeologists in reading memoirs and maps discovered a long forgotten Civil War Prison much like the notorious one in Andersonville, Ga. From what I could understand there may have been over 50,000 Northern prisoners there at one time. When General Sherman began his march to the sea after the fall of Atlanta many of the prisoners were moved and camp was closed and forgotten until now. I am sure you will read about it sooner or later but my heart ached at the horrible things that must have gone on there. God forgive us for the cruelties we bestow on one another! Uncle Tom
