    BIG Dog,
this topic has been covered before. I guess you would need to scroll back several pages to find something like this that was run through last year.

    I'll check in anyway!

    BDOG,
no need to apologize to me. Just thought I'd let you know that the topic was brought up prior.
Like most topics here, it's hard to keep the interest after a page or two has gone by.

I'm sure that those members that enjoy the meetings etc. will fall right in. On the other hand, a lot of us just want to "Be there" or pitch in as they can.
Keep on doing what you are doing.
It sure won't hurt and it just might help!!! Smiler<!--graemlin::)-->

I finally caught some fish at Shabbona a few weeks ago. Thinking about hitting Carlton Soon, maybe next week.

Fished Lake Sule on the 4th, my daugther caught her first fish (bluegill). I think she caught the only fish in the lake.

We caught a bunch of gills. I caught on Paper thin Crappie. IDW got a nice eater Kitty cat.
Cindy got a beauty of a Gold colore Bull head about 2lbs.
Eye caught a 3+ Dog fish. Good fight, thought I had a nice Cat hooked.

So I happen to come across this post and thought I should check in.  Greetings to all, I'm Jennifer aka 'Cricket' a beginner fisher for some time.  I  reside near O'hare airport and have fished this past year at Herrick and Mallard Lake. Prior to that, I lived near Hickory Hills/Willowspings area. I've camped and fished down in Shabbona a few times but when living south between working and finishing collage my normal local spot was Maple Lake.  I'm used to catching smaller fish, since the big ones that did cross my line...got away :(

So thats me...in fishing brief. Anything more feel free to ask. :P

Hello!  I'm here in Lemont, fish mostly Heideke and the big Lake around here.  Used to live in Central Il around Charleston and fished Shelbyville.  Always looking for where the fish are, especially walleyes.  Canada has spoiled me on them eyes!

Almost time for some spring salmon runs and I keep looking for the perch reports on L Michigan.  Waiting for Heideke and the weather to cooporate to get in some early trolling.

Anyone know of some good Crappies around?.  Me and couple of buds were thinking about a run to Rend or Lake of Egypt soon.

    Good fishin to all!

Hey, guys.  Sonny, checking in.  Don't know why I didn't see this section of the Forum before.  Nice to see fishing is alive & well in I-L.  Heck, a lot of us might have seen each other before, on or at the water, & don't even know it!  I'm in the 847... northeastern corner of our state, in Lake County.  Usually hit the Fox Chain-of-Lakes (on weekdays... NEVER on the weekend), the piers on Lake Michigan (usually Waukegan Harbor, once in awhile Johnson Motors pier... unfortunately, the ComEd pier is shut down), or the Fox River from Wilmot WI down to Algonquin (by the way, the Fox is flowing free at the McHenry Dam, & the island's under water, but no guys fishing there yet... at least when I was there).  I've also fished, pretty much, every lake or pond with public access within a 100 mile radius.  But I've been known to stray as far north as upper Minnesota & the U. P., as far west as western Iowa, and as far south as Carbondale/Carlinville.  I've also been all over Wisconsin pulling in fish (yes, the Wisconsinites let us Illinois Boys... a.k.a. "FISH"... up there for a week or two at a time to fish & spend our cash... "I fish, therefore I spend").

Hey Cricket, I hope you've decided that you like fishing & keep doing it.  You might want to check out Busse Woods, west on Higgins Rd., in a couple of weeks or so.  Busse Woods is usually a good time, & it's close to where you are.

Keep the line fresh & the hooks sharp.  Look forward to seeing one or more of you at the water's edge.  God bless all.  -Sonny, Life Member since 2002

Hey Rich, Welcome to the NAFC...My name is Denny and  I am the Co-Chairman of the Nafc Ohio Chapter. I have taken it upon myself to encourage each state to start their own state chapters and would like to see you guys in Illinois get one started up. It's well worth the effort and your fellow members over here in Ohio would be glad to help you with all the information that you may need in getting one started. If you have any questions just stop in the Ohio section and ask. Have a good evening.   BD

Hello all.  It's been a loooooong time here.  I am in Rochelle (20 mile south of Rockford and 15 west of DeKalb.  I have a 17' Jon w/9.9hp merc and a Minkota remote trolling motor, depth/fish locator, GPS with HotSpots Lake maps for East and North regions.  "HAVE WATER WILL TRAVEL".  Don't really like what they have done to OUR website.  Went up to the Eagle River Chain for a few weeks.  Awsome time.  Stayed at the Gypsy Villa Resort on the Island.  Best trip I had ever been on with my wife Brenda.  I will highly recomend Gypsy Villa to all my friends.  They have HUGE Hottubs too.

You also have me down twice on your list.  I am at 4 and 21.  I had to get another name when they screwed up my account when they "updated" the site.  So you can get rid of 21, CIENKUS1 is my current name, or some just call me Brian.

Well if anyone wants to go fishin' anywhere just drop me a line at:  cienkus@comcast.net

Oh, I saw Joda a few weeks back.  He is working his butt off at Bass Pro near Boiling Brook.  Looks great and misses all of us.  Says hello, just no time right now.  Talk to all you later, and it's nice to see all the new members in here.  Maybe I'll be on more often now.  Have a Great Day.

Haven't caught any walleyes yet cuz I need to hone my not yet present skills. Just joined this club and hoping to meet and maybe even fish with some of ya'll. Howdy! Steve P.

Hello everyone. Right now I am in northern Minnesota, but will be moving back to Springfield, IL in July. When I lived there before I had a boat and fished Lake Springfield, Sangcres (I know I spelled it wrong sorry) and Otter lake. I'll be bank fishing for a while when I get back. Look forward to meeting some of you at some point and time.

    Hello Everyone,

My name is Dennis. I'm from the Southside of chicago. I've been fishing all my life. That does not mean I'm an expert, just that I love fishin. Lately I've been more interested in catfishing. Got a long way to go before I can consider myself a good one. Do shore fishing only. That's me in a nutshell.

I'm not quite in IL yet.  I'll be moving down from WI in two weeks.  My boat, however, is already in IL.  Its been a difficult seperation.

Anyone wanting to meet some of the Illinois members can come up to La Crosse from the 15th to the 19th of July. There is a large fishing meet there and a lot of the Illinois members will be there. There is a thread in the "MEMBER MEETS" area that will give you all the details.

Hey everyone. I live in the Ottawa area and am always trying to find a good place to go wet a line. Unfortunately I don't have a boat right now so it's shoreline only for now.

Hi, I just joined here. My husband and I have a seasonal campsite near Lake Shelbyville. This is our first year fishing there. Before this, we fished Kentucky Lake. Because of the gas prices and economy, we decided to get a campsite closer to home (rural La Salle, IL). We primarily fish for LargeMouth Bass (catch and release only). But we still have fun catching crappie, bluegil, and white bass. Hope to learn more tips from all the other experienced fishermen and ladies on the forum. Velda

Damien: Where and how do you fish the big pond? I fish salmon out of Northpoint Marina on a buddy's boat. This year has been slow, more due to the economy than the fish. If you PM me, I will send you an email address. Tom

Hi all, Ron here from DeKalb. I'm a multi species fisherman, so I don't discriminate to what's on the end of my line. If I end up with a pike instead of a smallie, or a drum instead of a cat etc.- so be it. I'm all CPR, I don't eat fish, but those that do are more than welcome to- as long as they're legal size. I fish both rivers and lakes, have a small 15' aluminum V-hull Jon boat that I putter around in. My son is my best fishing bud, and is on the DeKalb High School fishing team. Maybe get to meet up with some fellow IL anglers, and wet a line a time or two. Tight lines to all!

Welcome to the Club  Bouncer56fisherman1264pepeluis,  RandyD52reedvdr

    dedfisherlsarver,  and  Lip Yanker .

Its been quite awhile since I've been here.  Fishing has been ok this season.  Nothing to write to mom about .... but still productive.  Found out today that I ripped the H*** out of my rotator cuff.  So not much time left to fish before surgery.  Anyone that wants to hook up and get together , I still haven't put the boat away for its winter nap yet.  It seems like it's going to be a cold harsh winter this year.

Hey Lip Yanker, how did your son finish up on the fishing team?  It  was awesome that there are now High School Fishing Clubs.  It's about time, if they had that when I was in school, I would have gone more often (LOL).  If interested, I fish at a private lake in Malta and in Ashton.

    Tight Lines

That's funny pegs! And, I'm sure my fellow anglers wouldn't want me to actually fish neked... I get chills on my spine seeing myself that way, I wouldn't want to subject anyone else to that. cienkus, our fishing has been about the same. So/so... it's been a funky summer though too. Sorry to hear about the rotator, that's gotta suck. My son fished sectionals at Pierce last fall. They only boated a couple LM, and I think only one keeper a little over a pound. We went to the spring trout open in Coleta, and got skunked... we're looking for redemption in a few weeks at the fall open. Thanks for the invite, it would be nice to fish a few places close to home, other than Shabbona and Sule. Will send an e-mail if I can make it sometime. .

Heya's, I'm new to the site also rejoined NAFC after letting account go for 10yrs or so. The name is Mike, I live in Pana, IL. originally from East Tennessee. Moved out here in 1994 after I retiered from the U.S Navy. Do most of my fishing in and around the local lakes and rivers here. I really miss Trout fishing from being stationed up in the NE. Is there any spots here in IL that harbor them?

Well I am from central IL, Peoria to be exact. I am hoping to explore some new fishing holes, and camping grounds come spring. It's been short fishing times the past couple years due to vehicle issues, or lack of money to go have a good weekend trip.

    Hello from Southern Illinois....
one of my favorite haunts is a hidden spot on Rend Lake but it seems the water has to be flowing just right and the water needs to be about 75-80 degrees to get good hits.. Also like to hit the local reservoir that is not used anymore, seems like there the cats are on a time clock and only hit about 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm... seems strange to me any one know why this may be?

    Hey guys,

I haven't checked in this site for a while. I mostly fish Lake Carlton in Morrison-Rockwood State Park(Nice campgrounds) . Been unemployed for over a year now so I stay local. The lake is only 3 miles from my home. I could go to the Miss. River, but I don't like to fish current. I'd rather fish in a lake. I recently picked up a used canoe and am looking for new places to use it that isn't too far to drive. See you on the water.

I primarily fish for walleyes on Pools 13 to 18 and the Illinois River. I also guide on these waters. I've been a licensed captain for over 30 years. Before moving to the midwest I ran inshore and offshore charters. There's nothing like a fish tugging on the end of your line weather it be a gill of a 700 pound tuna. I just love to fish.
