l read the post about the panfish tournament in Ohio, and was wondering why no one has organized one in lndiana. lt sounds like a lot of fun. lf l knew what l was doing l would organize one myself. What would it take to get one started here in the Hoosier state? Do we have anyone who knows how to organize one? |

I think that's a wonderful idea jwebster. I'm very interested in the OH panfish get-together., and am still seriously considering going. In-law family is in Connersville, and where they're hosting OH meet is not that much farther. There's not a lot of organizing we need to do for an IN meet. Really it's new, maybe we just put out a notice to get as many people to come as possible. "Meet here at this time. We'll need these things for the pitch-in afterwards. We'll catch some fish and fry them. Enjoy the company and have a good day." Short and simple to get it off the ground, then as we grow like OH's starting to get we'll need to put more effort to it. I'm open to driving about anywhere to fish. So if anybody suggests a watering hole to work with and a date to be there, barring any major conflicts, I'll be there. I'm in Johnson County so I usually at Camp Atterbury and going to try and fish Big Blue this year as well. Then like I said, in-law family is between Connersville and Muncie. So I'm usually in the vicinity of either Brookville/Whitewater or Summitt Lake. Monroe south or Eagle Creek neither is big drive for me. Any of those places sound good, or anybody have any better suggestions please feel free to shout them out. It's unfortunate it seems the Indiana body of NAFC is pretty weak. Not a lot of members or not very vocal, one of the two. Would really like to see IN's NAFC members more collective as a group. Just replied to a new guy that posted in the new members forum that's also from IN. Anybody interested? |

I would love to fish a panfish/bass tournament in Indiana. Living in NE Indiana I have access to a lot of lakes of all sizes and I love to Crappie fish. My super fishing outfit is a 12' Sea Nymph with a 1947 Sea King outboard. Not high speed but gets me to the fish and great for a lot of the small lakes up here. Just Mike Lifer since 2006 |

the lakes that l had in mind were ones like brookville, monroe, morse reservoir, geist reservoir, or eagle creek. all decent sized for anyone interested, but not so big you need 250 horses to get to the fish. just looking for someone to take the lead and set up a date time and place. l dont even think we need an entrance fee, but anyone interested can enter a pool for the biggest of each species. we will obviously catch the main dish but we will all need to bring a food item of some sort. |

That's four people, that's good enough for me. I was thinking along the same lines of Brookville (east), Monroe(south), Eagle Creek (central), Raccoon (west) or Morse (north) depending on where the most people are coming from. Make it the most convenient for the most people. I'll take the lead on this. I would prefer either Brookville or Eagle Creek. Let me know if you would prefer something different. |

It's tough to schedule because of holidays and I have a busy work schedule in April so how about May 14 at Brookville Res? I only recommend Brookville because I know what the crappie fishing is like there. Plus I'll be on the bank so I know those non-boaters have an easy access from the dock. April is tough to schedule around because of Easter, and personally my work schedule is going to be tough in April because I have a major implementation to do the weekend before Easter and it may get pushed off until the weekend after Easter (May 1) so until I get past this hurdle in April I won't be able to go. Then the next weekend in May is Mother's Day which we all know better then to schedule to go fishing on that weekend! . Saturday May 14 is three days out from a full moon. And the weather is predicted to be cooler and wetter in April so that may push the crappies from shallow until a little bit later. Brookville Resv. Quakertown SRA May 14 7:00AM What say you? |

hey guys, I am always interested in pan fishing too! I am from Decatur which is about 20 miles south of Ft, Wayne, but don't hold that against me...LOL... j/k... I'll drive to Brookville Res. to meet up and fish with you all. I'm off work on the weekends of the 7th and the 21st of May. Actually I've never been to any of those places fishing as I usually fish up in the northern counties but I know I've heard of some good fishing at brookville and lake Monroe also. I'm game... Maybe I could drag some of you along up north sometime too. |

Guys and I really sorry I have to do this. I have to drop out as much as I don't want too. And believe me, you have no idea how much I don't want too. I found out from my boss today that my project that I had targeted to complete on 04/30, he's pushed me off until 05/14 so he has time to address it with the CEO, and do the political mambo BS. Then just in this past week, my wife took a part time job at night (stay-at-home mom, the rest of the time) because, well, let's just be honest bills are coming faster than income. So she works nights and weekends now. She's still in her probationary period so she can't request time off right now. So she can't take off the 21st to stay with my boys while I'm at the lake. I am really so sorry. I was really looking forward to this. I haven't got to meet anybody from the club yet and was looking forward to the camaraderie, but unfortunately it is what it is. I wanted this more than you can imagine. With the way work as been, I was so looking forward to spending time with some buds on the lake. |

Hey jwebster24, there are more than 100 lakes in Stueben county and I am familiar with a handful of them. I have a few lakes in Lagrange and Noble county that I'm pretty fond of also. I've been on Clear lake a couple of times. Its like the crowned jewel of lakes in this area as it holds a good population of walleye, trout and almost anything else you'd want to fish for.
Hamilton lake is about 8 miles south of Angola and the crappie should be spawning there now. I've heard of crappie 14" and larger being caught there, but I haven't fished that lake since I was a kid. I'm off work this coming weekend and may try to go fishing. Theres also the trout opener on pigeon river on the 23rd. |
