N.W. Iowa here. fish alot of the smaller lakes in the area, mainly panfish and walleye when I can get to storm lake. Not having boat does limit one where to go :)

Corey Benson Here in Montezuma,IA  I take 3 of my four kids fishing as much as possible in the summer on the small lakes around us. No boat, only shore fishing. Kids are 13, 11, and 5. The 2 oldest are girls, and the youngest is a boy. Feel free to send me an e-mail if you want to hook-up this summer with me and the kids. Sometimes, we even get the wife to go. She doesn't fish, but she will sit and read her book. And take the kids to the "potty" when they need it.

Good day to all you Iowin fishermen.  Besides of the 8 inches snow yesterday I live in Oskaloosa, I am ready for spring.

I love to fish for just about any fish now days.  I use to fish in bass tournaments.  I am retired from the US arm services.  For the part time job, I am a taxidermist which I specialize only in fish and fish replicas which the government put me through a nice taxidermy school. 

I have a 18' Stratos Bass boat and a two person boat to get in those hideaway places.

My fishing partners when they can go are my two sons who are in their 20s, my wife and my 5 yr old grandson who loves fishing.  He started at the age of 1 1/2 yrs old and after 4 hours I was ready to go home.  But he wasn't.  He stopped his feet and said, "more fishing".  LOL  He was catching bluegills and crappies on a 1/16 oz tube jig.

I am anxious to learn especialy how to fish for walleyes.  If you can help, please let me know.  I heard that walleyes are great below the spillway below Red Rock dam and someplace down in Ottumwa around the hydro plant.

Just let me know when you would like to go fishing with the family.  We can always hit Diamond Lake or any other lake you like.  Lake Hawthorn and Lake Keomah are great places for the kids to catch crappies and bluegills and almost guarantee to catch some bass at Lake Keomah.  Even Lake Miami has some big crappies up to two pounders.  I have fished these lakes for over 25 years,  Just send me an e-mail when you would like to go.  I have a 5 yr old grandson who loves to fish for anything that bites.

NiZ here i live in clinton ia.

Fish mainly for cats in the mighty mississippi......but have been known to go after striped bass, gonna try for walleye this year, don't know to much about walleye fishing but hell gotta try sometimes.

But mainly i fish or cats they just seem to be the most fun out here.

I'm from Oskaloosa.  Started to fish at 3 yrs old in the Des Moines River moved to CA and fish OR, WA, TX, AZ, IL, VA and WI.  I am retired Air Force and fished in Germany and Spain.  Been in bass tournys and fished the 1991 BASSMASTER Invotational.  Heading out tomorrow for the first time this year.  Thank God the ice is gone.  I am interested in getting the bunch of us together here in Iowa.  I am also a taxidermist.

Yea, I'm Ron Ray Jr. And as you can see I live in Council Bluffs. I am trying to become a better fisherman. I would really like to learn how to catch some bass, and maybe some walleye. In all of my live, I cought 2 bass. All of them was completely by accident.

First time was when I was about 16 years old. I was fishing at a summer home of the mom of a friend of my mom's. I went to cast out my line with a lurer on it, but it snagged, and just dropped straight down from the pier I was fishing on. So I worked out the snag and went to reel it in and there was a 8 to 10 inche bass on the hook.

The next time it happened was about 2 or 3, or maybe 4 years after I got out of the Navy (1997). And basically the same thing happened, but I was shore fishing this time. And I was at Lake Manawa in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The first time was a place North of Omaha, Nebraska. In fact it was north of Blair, Nebraska if I remember right... Both of these bass were to small to keep. But they were the only bass I have ever cought.

Anyways, I would like to learn to catch bass, and/or Walleye. The only fish I have cought in my life is Catfish, Bullhead, Carp, and a couple drums (2 or 3) They all were more then big enough to keep, and so are the main things I have also eaten. I mean I have had walleye a couple times from a couple restaurants in my area. So I know I like Walleye. But I don't know about Bass. OOPS!!! Actually I did catch some other fish as a kid, that I didn't even touch. I beat the hell out of one of them and then cut the line about 8 to 12 inches from it's month. That was with a couple gar that I cought. LOL!!! After only catching those 2 fish in the lake I was at, I desided to move to some other lake. Yea, as a 11 or 12 year old kid, these fish (gar) scared the hell out of me, one of them was pretty big too. That the one that I beat the hell out of. It was my fish gar I had ever cought, and it was big enough that I could have fit my fist in it's mouth of sharp teeth...

Anyway, I would like to learn how to go after bass, and maybe even improve my fishing skills for the types of fish that I have cought all ready...

Hi. I'm Steve. Been a member since 1993, but have been away for a while. I live between Independence and Quasqueton. I have had some luck on the Wapsi with Crappie, Rock Bass, Smallmouth and Northern, but am looking for something new. I have a 4 year old who can't get enough of fishing. I want to find something between Waterloo and Iowa city that has some easy panfish fishing to keep his interest. I can find fish pretty well on my own, but I need to get on something that will deluge him with panfish. We're mostly catch and release, but will keep some to eat. Josh is not patient, so I need fast action. If anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate the help... I'm also interested in "grown up" fishing outings, so if anyone is looking for company....

Hi, I'm Matt from Marshalltown, just joined the club in july of 08. (My online name bobbyfisher is kind of a pun based on bobby fischer the chess player (I like chess) and the fact that I fish). Anyway, I just started fishing a lot a few years ago and I dont have a boat nor have I ever fished in one.  I'm decent at catching bass and bluegill in lakes/ponds, but have never had luck fishing for catfish, carp or walleyes, whether in lakes or rivers.  I've only ever fished in the Iowa River though, which is supposed to be pretty polluted, but my friends have caught catfish/carp there.  If anyone has any info about Sand Lake in Marshalltown, I'd be happy to hear it, because Ive fished there a lot but only caught a few medium bass. I'd be happy to fish with anyone in the area, especially if you have a boat. just send me an email.

I'm settin here in east central Ia. (Anamosa) no I'm not in the big house either.  Just wanted to check in and let you know the samllies, walleye, and a northern (I snagged it, it's a long story) are all doing great in the wapsi.  I have thrown most anything that happens to jump into my hand at em and they seem to want to play, even an old lazy Ike and an old cisco kid .  Hope your all enjoying the same luck and above all else just plain having a good time.  I'm heading to Minnesota with my boys this weekend for a 4 day trip, I'll check in with y,all when I return.  I only eat the fish I get in Minn.  Hope I'm tired of eatin fish when I get back.  Keep your line tight and tip up.

   SE. Iowa here. Salem Iowa, George Barber Life Member. My wife and I like to fish for Catfish ONLY. But I would be open to fishing for other kinds of fish but we don't know how or what lures to use or buy. We fish mainly in lakes and the Skunk river.

Bassn' Al here.  I live in Oskaloosa, IA and there are all sorts of lakes and rivers here within 30 miles.  Bass, cat, pan fish, pike, muskie, and whippers and more.  The following lakes I have fish and caught the following:  Lake Keomah; largest bass, 7 lb.  There are bigger ones in there.  Lake Miami: 2 lb crappie, bass 7 lb, Lake Hawthorne; 6 lb bass, White Oak Lake; 5 lb cat.  Skunk River; 5 lb cat, Des Moines River; 8 lb walleye, 9 lb muskie, Red Rock reservoir; 4 lb bass, 3 lb cat, white bass (all you want in July and August).

I can't wait until I get out this year and fish again.  I have a 18' Stratos bass boat and a two person boat.
