I heard that last week 3 people drowned while ice fishing. But with the cold weather the last few days I've also heard that there are people on the ice again. I'm planning on trying it  tommorow morning and was wondering if anyone had safe ice? You can believe I'm going to check the ice often on the way out.  This CABIN FEVER is driving both my wife and I crazy.

I hear you on the cabin fever! Over here on the east side of the ditch the ice has been iffy all winter, good one day gone a few days later. A fisherman went through in a spot that three days before had over 6" of ice. During the search (unsuccessful, dang it) there wasn't even enough ice to support an empty jon boat. If you go, pack some spikes, a rope and a PFD and don't go alone!

Ice was to variable yesterday. Plus it was dark ice. Drilled 2 holes before getting out very far and decided CABIN FEVER was a lot better than GRAVE FEVER!! I'll probably check out another lake Monday morning but I'm thinking Ice fishing season is over.

I have a pond at the end of my street that of late has opened up and is fishable at the north end. With luck the geese will keep it open for the remainder of the winter. If it was a few degrees warmer today I would be there instead of here!

This was a weird winter. I’m up in Michigan and there are some lakes that didn’t freeze all the way. Can’t say that I ever remember in my life a winter as mild as this one.

    Happy Fishing

Good thing wiinter - if you want to call it that- is almost over. I'm getting Fishing Fever. Hopefully I'll keep my sanity ( what little I have left) for another week. My brother and I are going to Tennessee ReelFoot Lake on March 12 for a week. By the time we get back what little ice is left should be gone- I hope so anyway!
