Here in southeast Kansas, fishing is getting good. The crappie fishing has been fantastic all winter long but over the last couple of weeks, the bass fishing has started to pick up. The bass in the river I fish all seem to be starving to death and grab anything you throw at them. They act as though they are starving even though they are as fat as they are long. The gut is extended and stretched and they look like they are going to explode. I have taken a few home to eat, not only to eat them but also to find out what they are eating. Each and every one of them is packed to the gills with crawdads. One had a 7 inch crawdad in his gut. I figuired the water was still cool enough that the crawdads where still hybernating but that doesn't seem to be the case. For any of you fishing lakes or rivers were the food sorce is crawdads, you might want to start throwing some crawdad imitations because the bass are moving and hungry.
