Are there not very many members from the Wichita area or are you guys just not posting? I'm always looking for guys to split the cost of a local trip. Bass crappie or walleye are my main interests.

the funniest thing I've observed about this club is not many get onto the BB, yet our BB has a huge population even after the club tried to kill it.  So you won't see many posts initially, but as you meet people on the water or over the BB suddenly there become a lot more.  Be patient and you'll see responses.

    Fellow Kansans,

Maybe we should try to get together somewhere face to face and plan a trip together.    I live in Russell and would be willing to drive to Wichita since that seems like a central place.    Maybe a one day event....a meal, some fishing somewhere close and easy and get to know one another.    Think about it....Let's make it happen.

That sounds like a great idea! JCT lives in Macpherson so he would be close too. I,m not sure how to coordinate this but we should certainly try.

I could pick him up on way to Wichita!     Wonder how many of us are retired?  If we are all retired, we could meet about anytime.    Pick a date, and a place and let's see how many can come.....If it's just four or five, it would be  a start..

this is a tough one lots of driving in the ratio to fishing, but Marion or El Dorado may be ok.

In the post "Location... Where's everyone from" there seems to be a desire to create a KS meet.  I added a post today that if we want a date, we should probably be far enough out that people can plan, so I voted for May 30th and/or 31st.  It looks like Marion Res is a likely location.  What we need is someone to organize it.  Whoever does that needs to post in the KS section about a meet and in the members' meet section also.  Who wants to organize this?

I could make that date work. If someone has the time to organize it. If we are talking about a small fishing get together, my boat is great on community lakes but to small for big lakes. Hopefully we could do a partner type fun tournament if enough guys have full size boats.

The date is fine, but I don't have a boat. I do have a 4 man tent, if we need that. I also have a 12/120 volt air compressor.

I have a little boat that works well for 2 and can work for 3, we just can't bring a lot of gear.  If the water gets rough 3 make it difficult, but we just wouldn't go out in it.  Let's see if a leader emerges.

Got your message Joe and I'll do my best to get to this one.  It's an easy drive from my home in McPherson.  I work every other weekend but I've only used three and a half vacation days so far.  I still have a few weeks left.

    This sounds like fun.------------JCT

    Green Lantern,

Good to talk to you by phone this afternoon(Friday).    As we talked, if we can't get together to fish, at least have a meal somewhere and make plans for the future. If nothing else eat, visit Gander Mountain and Sportsman Warehouse.   Looks like there is about 5 or 6 of us.....KC and Sedan are a far piece to travel from for a short event and we understand that....Think Krush's idea of the private pond is workable if we can get permission....leave boats home this first time.   I haven't fished Marion so don't know my way around there either.   Have fished Melvern and Coffey County(Wolfcreek)  south of Topeka along 75.    Don't know how far that is from Sedan....Would be a couple of hours from KC.    Have also fished Council Grove and Milford.    Know you have already talked to Krush by phone and know JCT.....That leaves Rodrigo and jtgifted and it is a long trip for them....jtgifted has already said he may have to pass.....jtgifted and rodrigo, when we get together we will plan something your way.   Let green lantern know what you have available and what you would suggest in way of trip...i.e.   length of stay, facilities, size of impondment, species, what time of year what you would suggest for meals,  motels nearby, etc.     When the time is right, I could plan a wonderful trip to Wilson for walleye fishing and include a backyard BBQ for everyone at my residence.   Doesn't sound like much now, just figuring out how to start, but it's a beginning!!!!   Thanks for posting your name and number....My name is Gordon Gorton......ggkansas@yahoo.com.....785-483-2555....Russell, Ks.   Would suggest everyone else do the same so we can start corresponding.    Have a great weekend.

    Gordon

Ouch------I just checked the work schedule.  Although I'm scheduled to work that weekend (I work every other weekend) and have plenty of vacation time left, one of my key people has already penciled in vacation for that weekend.  This might turn out to be a bust for me.  RATS!!!!!

We could switch it to May 16, 17, and 18. Show up Fri evening or Sat morning and leave Sun morning or Sat night. That is the only other weekend I can do it. Let me know if this works for everyone ASAP so I can change date with land owner.

Well, I'm way far from retiring... being 27 haha.  I have a nitro bass boat that can take two additional people.  I have a trailblazer as well so the drive is comfortable.  I mainly fish for bass, but much of my bass gear will work for other fish too.  I just don't have much knowledge in finding other species.  I'm not one for trolling.  With enough advance I'm sure I can attend.

Hello out there! did you all ever get together and if so are there plans to do it again. If so looks like there maybe a few of us new guys around tuat might want to try and join in if we can. We just need to hear from smeone and let us know what might be going on. If you all didn't get together that's alright things happen that can interfer, but no reason we can't try again. Maybe better luck the next time. With more people better chance for at least a few of us to get together. Waiting to hear something.

What's up Panhead62? I havn't fished for crappie vary often but me and the boys are willing to try for anything just to get the line wet. I guess if we want to try and get together some time we need to try and start planning something. I don't have a large boat for getting out on the lakes. I've only got a ten foot flat bottom with a trolling motor to push it. It does alright for two or three people. Where you like going for crappie and when? If no one else wants to start something going maybe we should and have everyone else speak up if they want to get in on it and lets all meet up. Just say when and where and I'll make plans to try and be there. Weekends are best I stay home with a two and a three year old during the week and I've got other kids I get off to school. I've got spring fever need to get out lets plan something!!!!!!

I have a 12 foot flat bottom and a trolling motor for it and then I have a 16 foot semi V with a 9.9 merc and if push come to shove we could hook them up in line and take off for parts unknown with the merc out front.

I am not all that up on places in Ks. for Crappie but we do have some experts on line here that guide for a living that I am sure we could tap for some good places, most of them are north and east of Wichita by a couple of hours.

A little closer is El Dorado Lake and I talk to a guy a few days ago that was catching them out there last weekend but he has a private dock and does not wish to say where it is, could be he was not catching anything or maybe he does not have the dock or both, anyway !!

We need to get ahold of GreenLantern he is from Wichita and so is Krush I belive, I used to talk to GreenLantern once inawhile but I have not heard from him in awhile as I lost his number.

Have a good day and may you spend it fishing!!

Ok guys I'm here. I've got a 10' cartopper with a trolling motor and I'm ready to go if the weather gets warm again. I heard Marion is supposed to be good for crappie this year, but I've never been there. I usually go to Eldorado for crappie.

Alright!! Let's get something going. I've got my 10' flat bottom and a couple of tents. I've been to Marion but havn't really been able to fish a whole lot of the lake, mainly banked fish. The same for Eldorado. Getting out fishing and making new friends that's what this is all about first. Catching some fish is nice too, if it happens. So what you all thinking, late March early April. Giving sometime to get some others involved and time to work the schedule to make it. Check the calender and let's try to set the day or days, depending what everyone can do.

Does any of you guys know any of the other members around Kansas? I havn't meet any other members yet, that's why I'm hoping we get this together. As I've mentioned I'm a stay at home dad so most any weekend is good for me. We just need to get in touch with other members and pick the lake. I've only banked fish most my life so don't know the lakes very well.

I have not as yet had the priviledge to meet our members from Kansas and I am not all that familuar with the lakes around, back when I was able to get around better I spent most of my time working and now that I have more time I find that my being slightly disabled keeps me from getting out like I would like to.

Three years ago I fell off the top of a tractor trailer when a rope broke and let the wind take me and a big tarp off into a bunch of boulders in a rock quarry, real Bummer of a deal.

Wish you all a good day! and may you get to spend it fishing !

Sorry to hear about what happened. But glad your still with us. We'll have to see what we can do about getting you out a little more. If nothing else we can get out and fish some of the community lakes in the area. Some of them have some good fishing. Did you get to talk to greenlantern yet? Just wandering what he's thinking about the time frame for a get together. As far as which lake we hit, it don't matter part of fishing is the hunt for the fish and learning new places. The thing that matters the most is getting out and meeting some new fishing buddies.

I must appologize to you all I did not get around to calling GL, early yesterday morning I was attacked by a couple of very large 4x12x15 foot long planks and I thought I would just move them kinda slow so as not to upset my back but I found out very quickly that slow did not make any difference, anyway I came in the house and took some pain pills and laid down in a traction device and fell asleep so I will try today right now to call GL and see what he is up to and let him in on our plans.

I know that he will be pleased and wnat in on this, I will let you all in on what I find out!!

Howdy Howdy Howdy Folks, I feel much better now than I did back there when I did not feel any good at all.

I tried to call greenLantern a couple of times today but all I got was his answering machine but we will eventually get connected I am sure.

As far as Bringing wives and kids, I thought I would bring my wife if she wanted to come she is an excellent fishin-Person, (got to be pollitically correct).

I was taking a couple of kids from the Wichita shelter fishing but their mother got off of parole and moved to Mo. and managed to get custody, from what I hear it will not be to long before they are back in the "System".

So on a better note, if you have kids or a wife and want to bring them I personally have no problem with that, and if this get-to-gether winds up lasting more than one day then any girls or women that wish to come can have the travel trailer with my wife and I will pitch a tent.

Wish you all a good day and may you spend it fishing!!

Glad to hear your doing better panhead. I was thinking of bringing my kids that want to go. As far as the wife, I'm not sure what she'll do like you all said it'll still be alittle cool out. I don't think she'll want to have the little ones out there to late. Well so far I think there's about four of us from Wichita going to be there. That's a start at least. Now which lake? Eldorado is close and if I remember right greenlantern has fished it. So at least one of us would know the lake alittle. The reason I would pick a close lake is if it's still pertty cool out at night my wife would probably bring the little ones home at night then come back out during the day. Me and the older kids would spend the night. Looking forward to this little get together of ours.

The more people wife's ,kids would be a better get together. I just wish the dates could be set for a later date when it warms up where everyone could enjoy being outdoors and not be cold.

Rusty...You should consider a later date so it will be nice and warm for everyone. El Dorado lake sounds good close to home and lot's of camping places. We camp at El Dorado all the time. We have interest but only if it's warm out like Shorts & T-Shirt weather. I also think it would be a good idea if you started a new Thread (Topic) on this get together.Talk later

As far as the date goes it don't matter when let's just do it. We'll probably have to wait until late April early May, and then pray for a sunny weekend not a rainy one. We'll just need to pick a time and maybe something of an alternate in case the weather don't permit. The rain won't bother me and my boys but it will the wife and babies.

Sorry guys I've been a bit lazy lately. Talked to Rusty the other day. I would really like to do this . One Grandgirl is 7 and loves to fish. The other is 31/2 and is nuclear powered. She would be a handfull on a campout The late April time sounds good, bur we will need to be sure of access to weather info. It can change very quickly.

Hi Greenlatern...Hey this is looking like 4 possible 5 with the guy up from Ks. City. Hey the 3 1/2 yr. old would have other kids to play with so that will burn lot's of energy. Have not heard anything from Rusty or olesmoke. But it sounds like we all live in Wichita.I think a get together on a Sat for lunch someplace would be good at making plans to set a date and be able to meet in person and get to know one another.

Hello guys sorry been busy around the house. I've got a 2&1/2 and a 3&1/2 yr old boy and girl that the little one can play with. Don't know if they would spend the night depends on the weather and the wife. A saturday get together for lunch would be fine just say when and where. A person to person might get somethings nailed down.

Do we want to bring wives or not?? makes me no never mind.

Wish you all a good day and hope you get to spend it fishing!

Hey Panhead you talking about the Town&Country Reaturant by Townwest mall. If you all want to bring the wifes that's fine with me. I'll bring the wife and kids also. The kids like getting out for lunch. It also depends on which weekend we get together for lunch. If it's a weekend I've got all the kids here I doubt they'll come with due to the amount in the house there's too many to take out, unless I take out a loan. HAHA. If your wandering I have six kids in the house. Every other weekend four of them go to their mothers house.
