Well mother nature threw us a curve with some Saturday mornin rain ,hail and lightning. We sat under the shelter for a while and when it cleared we had a fabulous day. I think the weather scared a few off but the guys from the KC area were there and Green Lantern. The fish were practically jumping in the boat in surrender lol. We didn't catch any big big bass, the avearge was 1-1/2 to 2 lbs. But the numbers were statling even to me and I know this lake. I think everyone caught at least 30 plus bass with lots of big crappie and don't forget the biggest bluegill ever. My daughter brought her boyfriend and his buddy. They camped Saturday night with myself and green lantern. We woke to another thunder storm. It looked like a bad one so we packed up and Joe /Green Lantern headed home. With everthing packed we waited another hour and it cleared off. We put the boat back in and caught several more bass and crappie. Britt, my daughter caught the bigest bass of the weekend at 3.0 lbs even. Dominic ,his dad and brother came around 11.00 on Sunday and caught bass till there arms were sore and a few crappie for dinner. The fishing was fabulous but pales in comparison to the fun times shared with new friends. I hope to plan a trip to the eastern part of the state later this summer or fall with Rodrigo, Steve ,Miles and  Keith. I'll post a few pics and if Rodrigoes camera phone isn't fried form the spill in the lake then he can post some too. I hope Rodrigo and Miles had insurance on those phones. We also had a litle mishap on the gravel boat ramp. Rodrigo backed in just a litle too far and found a drop off. Had to get a tow to get out. He has some pics on the wet cell phone. With all the fish he caught he still had a great time and knows I'm laughing with him.

Unfortunately I was unable to attend saturday and meet everyone.  I did make it out as posted and we had a great time.  The morning made me debate on going, but played out really funny.  I checked the forecast and saw that it was supposed to get rainy and strong storms later, but seemed to really clear up.  I decided to drop my daughter off with her grandma and I would stop by to see who was left.  I did not want anyone waiting around because I said I would be there.  My brother and dad went along.  I'm glad I didn't bring my daughter since it would have been very hard for her to fish, but I will just have to take her another day.  The skies really started to clear and I know that can make fishing rather tough for smaller bodies of water.  I know fish relate to cover when the skies are high and that is what I had to do.  My brother and I used the boat on the other side and that helped.  My brother though isn't the best at paddling, but I will keep that a secret.  Saturday you guys had the perfect weather I wish I could have made it.  I love the cloudy, windy, stormy weather.  But what I missed out on the most was being around a campfire at night and just relaxing.  But still would have been tough because I tend to fish even when I can't even see anymore.
I hope in the near future I can help out with any future outings.
If anyone wants to try a new lake let me know.  I would be glad to bring out my boat.  Smaller the lake the better... Just kidding.  I will try a big reservoir, but I have to say it was nice not even using a full tank of gas with the boat the whole last year.  I tend to hit up smaller bodies of water and then just troll most of the day.  But again even big bodies I still troll a bunch and don't boat around all day.  My boat can take two additional people.  I would love to hit up coffey county again for their smallies, but I have to get renewed on registration before I can.  They have a parks officer on staff and a few others.  Very strict on letting you on the lake.

It would be fun being able to get out and camp again.  Just not as appealing when I'm out going alone and can just be so much extra work to do to get everything on my own.

I had fun and I greatly appreciate Kevin for setting this up and for sticking around so I didn't have to turn around with a locked entrance.  Most importantly my dad has been wanting to catch crappie for some time and he got some good sized ones.  And that ripples into he cleaned them took them home and we had a little fish fry with my mom joining and she loves crappie and hasn't had crappie in years.  It's the ripple effect in a good way.  I join NAFC life membership, venture to the boards, find ks board, read, find out about meet, Kevin organizes has place to fish, invites, I will attend, I invite dad and brother, they go, dad catches crappie, we eat, mom is happy, everyone is happy.  Thanks and have to catch up with everyone I have not met yet in the near future.

Pics are up in the photo album area.  My phone seems to be fine, for now.  This was a really awesome lake.  The bass were active and Kevin was a terrific host.  Keith has some more pictures, hopefully he'll send them to me.  To all of you who missed it, Steve Casteel describes it this way, "It's been a long long time since I've caught that many fish in a day."  It was a fabulous fishing day.  Kevin forgot to tell you, everyone from Kansas City fell in the lake.  BTW the average crappie and bluegill were probably around a pound.  The one covering Greenlantern's face was good sized by I should have gotten other pictures.  Thanks again, Kevin.
