Does anybody know how or if you can catch 4" - 8" shad in kansas and more specifically in Council Grove City lake? If so how do you do it? I see and catch the small 1" to 3" ones all the time but they never seen to get the big catfish. I have never even seen a "big" shad in Council grove lake. Help please.

shad are a bait fish, so you can use a cast net to catch them in KS.  They seem to like light, so get a spot light or a big flashlight, shine it in the water at night leave it alone for a while, if the shad are schooling when you check, you should be able to use a cast net and catch em.  Cast nets sell for $15 or less at Wal-Mart.  Huh I just checked their website and can't find them, but I got my net from Wal-Mart.
