I'm thinking a state park? Any ideas? We might as well get it started now.

Check out the LBL area. It is a 170,000 acre wilderness area.  Unfortunatley, it is about as far west, as you can go in Kentucky.  It does have a lot going for it though.  It has 2 of the best fishing lakes, in western Kentucky.  In the spring, and fall, the crappie fishing is some of the best.  Bass fishing, can be good any time of of year.  On the north end of the LBL, there are marinas, and motels.  There is camping available throughout the LBL.  Most are wilderness camps.  That can be used for up to 2 weeks.  Near the north end, more modern camping is available.  There is a large gazeebo, at the power plant, below the dam.  I think it has about 8 picnic tables.  And 3, or 4 grills.  The gazeebo, would make a good meeting place.  There are several boat launching sights in the LBL. And a launch ramp about a quarter mile below the gazeebo.  Plus a luanch ramp above the dam, on Lake Barkley.  From there, one can fish both lakes.  There is a channel, a couple miles up the lake, that conects it to Kentucky lake.  Even though I think it is a good place.  It is probably to far, for most members.  It seems like most members, are from the center, towards the east, of the state.  It is worth checking out though.  Just go to, Land Between the Lakes Kenucky.  There is all kinds of info there.

Thanks for the input Sam. I think if we all plan well in advance the location shouldn't be much of an issue. You wouldn't happen to have a link for there by chance, do you?

When in 2010 you planning this? We should be moved into our new place in Braken County in June 2010. About 5 or 6 miles south east of Augusta. Hope there is some good fishin waters around that area.

Happy to hear everything is ready to go Jim. It will be great to have another Ky member with us. The meet is still in the very early planning stages. Everyone has the chance to add input and ideas, and we all will decide the specifics around the first of the year, hopefully. If I had to guess, I'd say the meet will be sometime after your move.

So far, I agree with Sam. I have been checking out the links, and I think the Hillman Ferry campground sounds like a great place. Any suggestions from anyone? Places, dates, activities, etc...?

Regardless of where it is, there should be boat rental for those of us without.

I agree Jerry. I personally do not own a boat, and a rental would be great.

Hey Sam/Fred it,s Joseph. Sorry no contact. Started driving over the road , wife left me for another fisherman with a bigger "crank bait" and I lost everything I owned to include my fishing platform. Im on the move again but will be watching for a meet date. About done with otr driving. May have found a new fishing partner. I like it cause she fishes real slow and thats what I need rite now. No added fishing pressure. HA !! No new email add yet. Keep ur reels lubed and ur rods strait. B in touch brothers. Beaten down, busted, lost but never surrendered or given up!!!!  Joseph

HI everyone. I'm a new member from KY and I am more than interested in a trip to LBL. I haven't fished there since I was a kid.

LBL sounds great. That's right out my back door. We ended up buying a house in the county about 8 miles outside of Cadiz. We are only about 2 blocks from Lake Barkley. Out by Rockcastle. We should be moving in this summer.

Thanks Fred. It's going to be great being a Kentuckian. I'll be moving my son up there first. Around the first week of May. Get him and all the furniture and dogs set up. Have to build a dog kennel area for them to play in. First thing I want to do is trade in this dang NM drivers license for a KY one. I figure I'll be up there about a month before I have to come back and help the wife with selling this house. Hopefully that won't take more than a couple months at most. Then it's back to KY, retired for good. Fishin and huntin, huntin and fishin. Whoops. Can't forget the honey-do-lists that will come along with the retirment. Oh well. Life could be worse.

You have to look on the bright side. Once you're settled in and fully retired, those honey-do-lists wont be much of a chore anymore.

We are happy to have you and your family here. Looking forward to the meet, and fishing with you.
