Well everyone I've been out off of HWY 51 fishing 4-5 days a week for the last 2 months, fishings been very slow and far between strikes. Anyone have any good panfish secrets. Also noticed the carp are starting to spawn, so the soakale (s.p. crappie) should be coming in soon to bed.
If at first you don't succeed get a book for dummies and try again

Get ready everyone here comes the pre spawn, caught several fat bellied females tonight, water is at about 52 and rising every day.  Catfish are getting very active too, caught a few of those suspended about 18 inches off the bottom.  Good Luck neighbors.

Hi, I'm having the same problem with cat fishing. I mainly fish south of gueydan off hwy 91. I've had no luck with them biting at all. I also tried the rockafella and the canals on hwy 82. I caught a lot cats and gar fish in these areas last year , but for some reason they are not biting. I wish someone knew what was wrong. Thank You

What I'm thinking is we had a very strange winter could have shocked the fish a little bit. I've been testing different ideas and doing better then every one else on the lake from my understanding. Ive been catching the cats on get this crickets. Small shinners on a slip bobber 18 inches off the bottom working good for cats and crappie. Killing perch on trout worms. Haven't had good luck on artificial baits, haven't gotten my boat in the water yet. The Gar are everywhere we (almost) catch one each trip.

Went out Tuesday with my favorite UL rig for a few hours. I threw a line out with trout worm weighted to be very sensitive, didn't catch a single fish, a few strikes though. I decided to start casting a few tube jigs out tried several combinations and came up with 4 nice slabs and 1 very decent sized alligator gar. Now remember with the UL 6 lb test I got this 13-15 #. To say the least it was a great test on my Quantum ultralight reel and Cabelas 6'6 UL rod. Both did a great job the set was perfect, first time I've gotten one to the shore. Enjoy the pictures.

Last night went out to one of my great spots. Sad to say it was a great day fishing with no activity. I got my second scratch of the season. I think this can be written off as a weather event winds were gusting 15-20 very hard to get any kind of sensitivity or good action on a 1/32 tube jig. The boy had fun blackberries are in season so he snacked the whole time. Good luck this weekend Anglers, let me know where they are biting at!! -Eric

It was slow this weekend. My buddy caught a few small ones and I caught 1 small cat. The biggest story besides drinking alot of beer lake side, having my chair blow into the lake with my blackberry on the arm rest was whatever the heck I missed on a drop rig. Used a huge baitfish on a #2 hook what ever it was it chomped through my spidercast 20# test like it was nothing. When I set I felt it shake its head and bang, didn't even pull the drag out it was gone. Can't wait till the next time im going to use a Kansas rig on that big sonofagun. Hope everyone else caught some fish.
