Well jmack It doesn't look as any body has been out.But I'll tell you when I do get out. Last year I spent my time catchin Crappie @ Black Hills in Clarksburg. I do spend most of my time in my "backyard" on the  Upper Potomac. It's a great place to catch Smallies,Largemouth,Cats and I saw a large school of BIG carp cruising in an eddie.

I've been out a couple times to the conawingo dam. I've seen Five walleyes caught in my two trips right up next to the dam. None by me unfortunatly. Still skunked for the year.

I went out sunday to the upper part of the susquehanna just below the dam.  I didn't even get a bit.  Fish for about 2 hours and then left.  Went to funks pond did not fish but talk to the guys there and nobody was catching anything.  I hope that everyone else that went out had better luck then I did.  Oh well I will try again next weekend.

    Scruffy,

That sounds awesome but I have drill the first weekend of april so i'm going to have to regretfully decline. I really appreciate the invite though, maybe I can get in on the next trip.

well i had the worms on in line spiner with a hook i did try and use some lures and they were small jurck baits, twisters, small crank baits and a few walley diver. i did not have any minnows but i could see small bait fish in the lighted areas of the river if i would of had some of them we would of had some more walleyes but thats ok we still had fun and that is what matters oh and the yellow perch are biteing good on a bottom rig with two hooks over near the perryville side along the the drop off you will just have to move around a bit but they are out there. well i hope this helps out some and have fun out there.

Thanks for the info stanski80.  I have only fish the harford county side of the sussy.  Where do you go on the perryville side?  I know that it gets very deep over there.  I think that some spots get as deep as 90'

I walked accross the street to fish the spill way and caught two yellow perch. i think it ill still be a couplw weeks before the perch are running strong over here on the Shore.

My friend went out in his kayak on the Potomac and caught 47 Smallies and 1 bluegill. He did admit that most where around 6 to 8 inches but he did get a few 3+ lb buggers. He caught them on tubes. I missed out because I had to get the ol ticker checked out.

I live in Washington DC so I fish the Chesapeake Bay in the Annpolis, MD area.  We are really just getting started as far as MD saltwater fishing.  If not mistaken where we fish you will get allot of Blues, Kroker, and Spot if I remember correctly.

We went out to the Potomac on Saturday.Set in at Mouth of Monocacy and did a float trip down to Whites Ferry ( 6 miles). Two in kayaks and my son and I went in my Crawdad..What a day Jeff caught a hawg of a smallie early. The day ended in a rain shower but no worries the final tally was...........................

    Jeff  48 Smallies

    Luis  25 Smallies

Me  15 Smallies and one 8 inch Bluegill

    Nick  10 Smallies

The average size was about 8 to 10 inches. With quite a few 12's thrown in for good measure.

I had a rather productive day. My final tally was 20 fish. 18 Smallmouth, 1 Largemouth, and 1 Bluegill.  The first pic is the size of 4 of the fish and the Largemouth was bigger but as I tried to get a pic I found out it was camera shy.(flipped out of my hand and into the river). The second pic was the size of a about 10 of the fish and the last rounded out the field.

Although I didn't get the numbers that Jeff or Vernon had (60 and 34). My fish where much larger than they had.

I stopped by a small creek (Seneca Creek) in Gaithersburg on Friday. I caught a few Creek Chubs. They are always fun to catch. 1 was 6" and the other 5 were around 10" long.
