Hi Bob welcome to Mass the western part of the state has some nice spots to it like the Quabbin resivior get regularly stocked with trout rainbows, brown, tiger and is a real good bass lake with some landlocked salomon in it. There is also some nice northern pike there but it being a resiviour no gas motors over 9hp and boats must be at least 12 feet in lenght. They do rent boats there in the season but there is plenty of area for shore fishing and fly fishing. There is also the swift river resivation it is near Palmer Ma execelent brookie's there is a lot more out that way like Lake Consquidumnt near Worcester. I tried your e-mail and it came back to me address was no good.

I live about 5 miles outside of Boston and do most of my fishing in the surrounding towns Concord Lincon Newton Waltham Natic and of course the Charles River which has just about everthing in it.try this link it got a lot of info on it.

hope to talk to you again

Hey fellow Mass bastards...you too fly master.  hehe

Don't have the time to committ to getting together on a regular basis like a chapter or anything but you should consider taking a trip up to the NE meet at Lk champlain..

This'll be my 5th year in a row meeting the guys up there to nail on the LMB in champlaign and dragthe depths for the lakers  n;' salmon lurking the depthes of Lk George.

The guys at this meet are top notch people n' not too shabby on the boat too.

Boats are available to rent or ya can try to hook up w/ a new friend...brews n' laughs around the fire are plenty after a day out.

check the thread on the member meets if your interested.

I'll be checking in here too to see what else in going on.

BTW I'm in the metrowest area flymaster...maybe a trip at iceout will come around.

i'm about 45 minutes outside holyoke and i fish all over athol and orange area. depending on what your looking to catch depends on where to go. the quabbin just opened yesterday as a matter of fact and they already stocked up but it took away from the rest of the area lakes to be stocked for a few more weeks. they stocked all the larger bass and trout in the quabbin as they usually would before stocking other lakes but found that they had no decent sized fish left to stock the rest of the lakes with. now as i've been noticing there is an overabundance of panfish of all sorts that are enormous and taking over my usual bass fishing holes where even when bass seem to not want to bite they strike hard and fast but lately i've only seen a few good sized bass with hundreds of kivvies swarming the usual bass nesting areas. today i caught a 13 inch largemouth got a picture and sent it back to turn into a trophy for a future catch but i've seen several good sized bass that were laying on the bottom of the lakes dead which is dissappointing to me and even a few good sized trout dead in the water. this is pretty upsetting where these are my normal fish to try for.

Central ma. is really a great place to fish. I fish Webster Lake, Wallum Lake,French river. They all have plenty of large fish.I just saw a guy catch a 42 inch pike out of Webster lake.I've seen 15lb Salmon stocked too.So fishing in central ma. is really very good if you know where to go.
