What bait should I use and what spots in the lake should I fish?

not sure about the lake itself. but baits i would use are.

when using tip-ups i would use suckers or shiner minnows in the 5" range at 1st. until i learn what the pike want and then change as ya go. look into the different type of shiners that all sold around you. there might be what are called blues, silvers and golden.
if your going to jig for them, try jigging rapala's, swedish pimples, airplane jigs and i have even done good with spoons such as little cleos and jewels. i do better tipping all these baits with some kind of bait such as bits of minnows.

winter pike are not going to chase live bait their looking for a easy meal I use what I like to call a dead rig I hook a 6-8' frozen herring upside down belly up on a tip up
