Just curious if anyone else gets the weekly fishing report via email that the Dept of Conservation sends out.  I've been getting it for a few years and  recently I've taken a few trips to locations I don't usually fish because the report listed them as "all species good".

I've been paying close attention to the reports this year and I've found their accuarcy to leave alot to be desired.  For example if the report says bass are good on spinners and topwater, I haven't caught a single fish on those baits, but caught several on other types of baits.

I's love to hear from anyone else that gets these reports.  Do you think they are accurate, or is it just me?

the thing to remember if i remember correctly is these reports are already a week old when they publish them, so if you go a few days after you get the report the info is already 10 or nore days old. alot can change in that time

So basically when you get the report on Thursday, it's telling what the fishing conditions were last weekend.  Well until some ingenious little Chinaman invents a time machine so we can go back to last weekend and go fishing where the reports say it's good and use the specified bait, I guess these reports are really useless.  I wonder how you unsubscibe to these email reports.

I think if you were use them as a general tool you might be ok. I get them but basically just use them as a "standard" of how the fishing has been. Plus it gives you an idea of where the fish were for a certain time frame/weather patterns, depth etc so you can try to extrapolate that data for your fishing spot or for similar conditions. Its not a real good system but I dont mind knowing what people have been catching and on what.
