    Decided to travel a little and took my daughter and her friend to Bennett Springs.  It seemed the girls had a blast netting the little sculpins (ugly buggers) while I hooked into a pound rainbow.  Saw quite a few vultures hanging and flying around the river.  Also saw too many idiots on float trips outside of the state park.

    Tried just about everything in my tackle box, but released the only trout I caught tody.

    Better luck next time. My brother was just there for a week and only caught 2 the whole week!

    Yah. Beautiful park to take the family. Park grounds literally manicured, with grass lawns. BBQ grills here and there or take yer own. Think there's even a small playpark for kids. Cold water, and deep runs. Looks like it's a couple feet deep, but don't be fooled, it might be 5-6' deep instead. Ultra clear. Boat launch and parking area for river access. 3 zones, 1. fly only, 2. artificials, 3. everything including bait. Best bets are start fishing at AM siren, or all day below the main dam. You'll want insulated waders, that water's cooooooooold.  Polaroid glasses are a help spotting fish. Good outfitting shops on the way in or @ the park office. Don't forget your day pass @the office. Wife and I live at LOTO, and get down there whenever we can. -'s all fish in stream are planters. +'s water's cold enough that the meat is nice and firm. Enjoy.
