With this bitter cold spell, maybe we'll get some ice fishing in this year. The rain tomorrow and warmer weather isn't going to help much. Maybe it will stay cold in the north. Didn't get any ice fishing in last year.

bring on the cold!! supposed to get some COLD weather starting the end of the week. down around single didgits at nite, and not very warm during the day. that should stiffen the ice up. I know I'd be stiff. sound like we could be ice fishing buy the week after, I hope, I hope.

I've got a couple of guys that have never ice fished that want to give it a try.

checked the lakes around Clinton. Round Valley is frozen all the way acrossed. not sure if it's safe, but the small lake is OK. Spruce Run is also frozen. Finally, we'll get some ice fishing in. I,m sure the lakes up north are good as well.

We've been on the ice for the last week and a half now. some days better than others. Round Valley swimming area has been pretty good. Caught some nice Pickrel and Large Mouths. Last Monday( the day it snowed) we caught 3 Bass and 9 Pickrel. 5 Pickrel on Thursday.

My dad got a 5 lb. Bass at Furnace Lake on Friday, but that was the only flag in 2 days!! very slow on the larger minnows.

Fished Spruce Run Monday and Tuesday this week. about a dozen good hits over the 2 days, but only thing to show was a 24" Northern I caught today.

       Still beats working.

Sounds like you guys did ok to me. Love those northern. Never been on the ice myself, even when I did live up that way. My dad was never into the ice when my brother and I were kids. Now I've got kids of my own and dad is gone but we don't get safe ice now that I'm in the southern part of the state. Still would like to give it a try though. Maybe one day.

it looks like we maybe coming to the end of the ice season, unless we get a real cold snap. it's getting thin and hard to get on and off. we went to Mountain Lake up in Buttzville today, going to try Budd lake Wends. Spruce Run is really bad and starting to show open water out be the dam.

We'll have to boat out before long at Spruce for spawning Pike right after the ice comes off. can't wait.

Yeah, the ice is gone here in SJ. A couple of guys have been out looking for some of the holdover stockies that are left from fall and winter stocking. I haven't gotten my '09 license yet  so I haven't been out yet. Think I'll get over to Dick's next week after pay day and get my supplies and get out there. I've been in the mood for a nice trout dinner lately .

Also will be time to get out on Greenwood soon in search of a nice spring 'ski!
