anybody hear about a possible saltwater license in NJ? I know NY is trying it and I wasn't sure if we were going to be next.

It looks like they are getting us ready for licensing.

Hi guys,
   Here's the scoop on the Saltwater Registry issue. The Feds have made it mandatory to register if you fish saltwater. Purpose is to get a more accurate picture of who is fishing and catching. This year you can register on the Fed website for free and you will get a laminated card in the mail. Took mine about two weeks to arrive. Next year it will be $25.00 to register with the Feds. The states have the option to create a Saltwater Registry or a Saltwater License, in which case it would satisfy the Federal Regs and at least the money would go back to the state, rather than the Feds, never to be seen again.
    NJ has yet to make a decision. Most of the fishing clubs are pushing for a registry with a minimal fee to cover administering it, rather than a license. Fear is Trenton will steal all the license money and not put it back into the fishing community. Here is the site to register:
