I'm in SE CT and need some advice. My wife wants to go to a place in NJ for our anniversary in Oct. Why NJ? She wants to connect with a friend and go to Medieval Times, but also go somewhere where we can fish. She has selected two places and wants me to choose one.

Looks like it's going to be http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksand.../bass.html in mid October.  Any tips re. fishing Lake Absegami, probably from shore since there are no boat rentals.  I have a canoe and kayak, but not planning on bringing either.
