White, black bass. Stripers hybrid's. Walleye, catfish, crapie, an blue gill's. just a few weeks back we whent to a place thats a creek off the rio grand inbetween elephant an calibo lake. we got cats white bass trout an walleyes all day long. so many fish you get tired of pulling them out. thos 2 lakes probly got the best bass fishing in the south part of new mexico. but...... there are many lakes on tirble land, an they got some good bass from what i here. well best of luck to you.

    hi all,
Bill Evans Lake has held the current state record for some years now and still has some of the biggest bass in the state...but,they do not get big because they are easy to catch...
clear water, high winds and no gas motors .
try a gulp minnow rigged for a drop shot,
crank baits off the points and island...
wacky rigged worms and spinner baits along the cattail coves
and crawdad imitations along the rip rap...
14 inch minimum....we practice catch n release on the bass
and eat the catfish, crappie and rainbow trout...

Q: What is an 8 inch Rainbow Trout to a 10 pound Large Mouth Bass?
    A: Lunch!

I've picked up quit a few at Cochiti over the years. You pick up some decent size ones up stream from the lake.
