there are 4 lakes in your imediate area. Santa Rosa lake Sumner Laker bother of which Quay is smack dap inbetween.. then you have Conchas and Ute lakes. north west and northeast of Tucumcari.
durring week of june 16th i plan to be checking our Conchas and Ute. and maybe even Santa Rosa. but i personally have not been to either.
Elephatn Butte stinks to many water skiers and last i heard they have been having problems with something killing off feeder fish in the lake so i havent been there is 2 yrs. Bluewater just stinks! there last fall 65ft deep lake only had 14ft in it. finding spot to get boat in water was almost inpos. after runing a grid of the whole lake fish finder picked up 1 fish and it turned out to be a cannel catfish i caught and released.
my current favorite lake is a small one but i never fail to catch fish at it. Eagle Nest. but its a bit small for my new boat.. lake has yellow perch trout and salmon in it. but no over night camping... salmon snag fishing in nov. is a blast the put up a good fight.
