Hey I just moved to Waynesville, NC. I am from the northwest and have no idea where to go to go fishing. Had to give up the Salmon and Steelhead fishing when I moved down here. I figured down here in this part of the state it's bass, crappie, bluegill, sunfish, catfish, and trout fishing that people go after. What river's or lakes are close to my area that I can hit up? If you provide some idea's on where to go give me some roads that are near by so I can type it in my Garmin. I have been here for almost a month and haven't hit the water yet. I am going insane! Help please I need to get out of the house before I loose my mind!

Welcome to NC first place, and now I would post this question on the other area of this forum. They have Mountain section of NC and you will get more information there. This area seems not explored very much, if you understand me. As far as I know the mountains have great areas to fish, I don't know the names or places but someone will. Good Luck

You got some decent fishing around waynesville. Lake junaluska Offers Bass, Crappie, Catfish, Rock Bass, Blue gill, and carp above and below the dam but no fishing after dark. The pigeon river has all the above plus walleye and muskey and Trout. Johnathan creek and cove creek are stocked Mountain Heritage Trout waters. Cataloochie (Spelling) has nice trout. Panther Creek and Fines Creek Has awesome trout fishing. Waterville Lake has good fishing, Crappie, Bass, Catfish, but no public access. Park on the side of I-40 and go down the bank. All of these locals within 20 miles of waynesville or in waynesville itself.

I Live in Marshall, a lot of good trout fishing over here. Some other good  lake fishing is Cherokee, Lake Douglas or Lake Hartwell. All are within an hour and half from me.
