Wow, I thought I would get a better response than nobody. Maybe no one reads this section.

Seems almost like everyone`s waiting for slightiy warmer weather; like June!  Still, good someone`s getting the info on the board. You seem to post timely things and without too much drama, FFFisch, as far as am concerned.

Can someone tell me where Alum Creek is please? I'm not sure if I'll be in town that weekend, but if I am and it's close, I will try to make it. Thanks.

NW Columbus off of 270, by a small town named Africa, lake is orientated N-S with impoundment on S end, roughly divided by a road. Good saugeye lake, very good smallie fishery on both sides of dam, good crappies in mouthes of coves and waist of lake. Plus some pike, musky?

Is there any boat rental places around there? If not, is there any bank fishing areas? I still have to wait for the wifes schedule to come out, but I would like to go.

Bassbum,  I am not real familar with Alum creek myself. I picked that lake because of its central location and it has good panfishing in it from what people told me. I do know people that fish it and I am sure it has a marina. From what I have been told there is also some good bank fishing to be had. There my be some people from the club that are still looking for a partner that my have access to a boat. Try on the ohiochapter website to see if can connect with someone. Also if you have a friend that has a boat they  are welcome to fish the tournament with you.

Haven`t fished Alum Creek in 2 yrs, but have fished it 10-15 times 2 yrs prior. The waist of the lake would be my first choice tournament time, especially the south side, unfortunately, it`s illegal to park any where near there and once got a warning from a Park Ranger for pulling over with flashers on , to unload our gear on the road, my cousin to haul the gear down while I parked and walked back. He did say there  was good panfishing there, but almost no one fished it from shore- wonder why! Also did put a john boat below the dam  years ago and did very well for crappies and smallies. HOWEVER, that was pre 9/11- would DEFINATELY ask either the Corp of Engineers or the senior Park Ranger if it is still legal to do so, and if yes would wear a PDF just incase. And the cove/inlet just N of the Marina was a good spot too, as were the coves around the East Boat Ramp, although access to them involved a hike of some distance.

It really surprizes me that in a fishing club that not one person wants to participate in a little tournament , followed by a fish fry at the campground. Checking one more time here to see if anyone wants to come out and play with us. LOL!!
