2 different gentlemen couple hrs apart fished 15A this afternoon, one tossing 1/16th pink head jig with whiteish twister tail, 1- 14" crappie 2-11"? keepers, said he caught 22 fish total, second individual using slip bobber and 2 small bare jigs 12-14" apart (he said `bout 6-7' deep) had 1-12" crappie and 6-7 bluegills, 1 was 9 3/4th" long on small minnows and wax worms. Said did get 2 or 3 snags, lost 2 jigs. He also said he`d be back this weekend with more jigs and bait, snags or not. Lastly, one boat spent approx. 45 minutes same spot earlier , noonish, didn`t see them catch any, but was working, perhaps they were simply enjoying the view, or bird watching. Can`t wait for May... |

29" 7.3 pd walleye caught 5PMish from extreme tip S breakwater Marina, casting perch pattern deep?-10`? wigglewart type lure, was first casting into the eddy line to NE, no luck inspite of presence of feeding gulls. Our hero then cast into the closest edge of 15A and on the 2cnd try, the brazen wallygator suffered a solid hookset resulting in it`s removal from the gene pool, alas. Had watched the entire episode from the baitshop door, was surprized to see him run up the riprap, happy as all getout. Several persons walked out to marvel ( and afew to drool, myself included) was more than willing to unhook her, and offered to clean the fish, to which he became understandably reluctant and just wanted to know where the nearest place was that sold ice, and promptly departed, he did say he might try that again tommorow. Wonder which direction he`ll cast first? Logic would say NE, with the wind, along the eddy line. Results would say due S where the SW wind diminishing and partly sunny skies will produce lower light penetration conditions. Yeah, 15A may be "heating up"... |

As was slaving away on my leaky dungeon last night with my nose all but literally to the wire wheel, whom should call but our politely put motley crew, fresh from recovering our marker bouys off the N end of CJ. Seems they weren`t content to loot the spots up there, having to putter by 15A, they decided to burn up the last of there minnows shortly after sundown on the way back in, and to call to let me know how well they were doing anchored there! Covered as was with paint dust, fumbling to get the HEPA dust mask off so I didn`t remind myself of Darth Vader on a bad ahsma day, listening to the pack of Vithsagoth and Hun plunderers having such a good time of it left me with that feeling of warmth you experience when you successfully wash ground-in rock salt out of a fresh aching wound with generous amounts of cool naptha, or benzidene. Out of politeness (or stupidity) stayed on the line while the caller set the phone down to set the hook and reel in the next fish... and got an earfull of "Oh, WOW! Look at the size of THIS one...!" 3 or 15 minutes later, our hero finally remembers the phone and tells me "Well, I`d really like to talk, but I`m way too busy catching fish!" When I ask politely for him to elaborate on their success, he answered "Some. Gotta go, Fish on!" Click. And to add the last insult to the situation, would guess was dumbfounded enough by what had just transpired the next voice I hear is "If you wish to make a call, please hang up and.." Kinda like having week old surgical tape ripped off that recent wound you washed with benzide to get the rock salt out of......."friends" |

Brian another of the "Friends" was out on #15A last night, he and his 3 comrades had caught "30+" on glow in the dark jigs 12-18" apart under Wingits `bout 10-14` deep, said they lost several jigs in the 2+ hrs before they sent him back for more bass minnows. Biggest crappie was 14", biggest WB was 15, they also got 2 twin 14" wallyeyes they tossed back, hoping for one a lot bigger. Left at 9:30ish, they were STILL at it with a lantern as was driving off. Wonder if that grandma wallyeye they were waiting on ever stopped by for a bite? If we get a decent weekend weatherwise the crappie is gonna hit the submerged brush blocks, to mangle a saying or two. Hope you get the chance to join in on a memorable bite! |

Been a minute since have had any good news from this spot, Sunday afternoon a group of 6- 7 persons started fishing here `bout 7PM and were still at it with lanterns at 10:30ish when left, all are regulars who apparently know the spot well; found out today final tally was 63 fish including 4 crappies over 12", 2 smallies over3 lbs and a doz cats (1 over 15 lb) and 2 walleyes under 15" thrown back. Slip bobbers with jigs set at 10- 12` deep accounted for most, using bass minnows, the `eyes and a close to 10" bluegill on leeches . Not bad in 5 hrs. Be safe and WEAR your PFD, please. |

A friend went upon the lake today realitively early in his kayak, has a surprizingly good sonar rigged in it, he launched out of the Marina and made his way South, hitting in order #15A, then 15B and 15C then #14, #13 and finally #12 (Crappie City), he was out for approx 4 1/2 hrs the lake was very calm other than the formations of the Jetski Squadron doing their best to create a walleye chop in the absence of any wind. He said most of the cover WAS holding fish, he caught 42 fish, almost all 8"ish crappies other than 1 bullhead and 2 small smallmouths. He did also say he had 1 very hard run on #12; he set the hook but couldn`t keep whatever it was from crashing head first into the submerged jungle beneath him and had to break off. @ boats were also fishing the #18 series (gravel bar) one was there for `bout 5 hrs, came in atlast, bought 2 large bags of ice, dumped it in their cooler with the fish they said they didn`t catch and went home. (They probably just wanted to keep their leftover pop cold untill they got home to clean those fish they didn`t catch that saw them dumping the ice onto- and yes, there were 2 cans of pop in their cooler along with the fish they didn`t catch; they must have bought the fish at Krogers before they came out. Does Krogers sell crappies and white bass? Wonder how much?) Please be safe and WEAR your PFD |
