Winter Steelheading is off to a good start.  Here is a pic of my son with our New Years day catch on the NF Nehalem.  One in the mddle was mine.

Finding water to fish has been tough with all the rain, but we've been hitting the smaller rivers whch drop and clear fast.

    Hi justdave,

It’s good to hear that the steelhead fishing is good. The salmon run in Alsea River where I have fished for more than 25 years was sure poor this fall. I hope this year will be better. I usually start near the bay and work my way up past cozy cove. At least the dugness crabbing was still good.

    Regards,

    Bill

    Bill,

Haven't heard of any great reports on Salmon this year, at least from your river north.  We had a few good trips, but nothing like normal.  Rain was late this year.  Everything seems to be about a month late as far as weather.  Steelhead, the rivers have been so high, some of the hatchery runs are about done  We'll see about the broodstock runs.

Had a good day bank fishing the upper Nestucca yesterday with my son and a buddy.  3 nice native Steelhead C+R.

    MG,

Not having much lock with posting pics, but there is an attachment below signature.  Going down to meet Matt this morning on the Nehalem.  I have to take him the Burrow so he's not sleeping in a tent this week.  Cold, cold, cold temps overnight.
