Welp, at a "meet & greet" today Ed, Frank and I decided to plan another event!   We missed last year altogether with Howard moving and my wife having the accident.  But I think we're on track for this year!

Ok I looked at my calender and I don't have much open in June. As of right now 12th, 13th,14th, 15th,16th, 19th, 20,21st, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th. Some time in that mix I will have to move my daughter. She finishes her masters at SU in June and probably it will be late June.

No ice cream or pie for me. But I will get you some.

Frank any time from the last week of April forward is what we talked about.........we just called it the "June Bash " it doesn't have to be in June......................

April is clear as long as we don't have a major snow, May is clear until May 11th than clear again the 22nd to the 30th. Pete and you can figure out what works for you and I'll see what I can do.

Right now May 24 thru June 5th is open. June 8,9,10 are open. June 14, 15, 16,17,18,19 are open. June 21, 22, 23,24,25,26 are open. June 29,30, July 1,2,3 are open. April 27,28,29,30, May 1 are open. So far...As time goes on this is subject to change! So I need to lock in a time soon...

June 1 is off the table...Going to Cape May that day.

Someone from N.Y. would/could never understand that Pete..............they would rather throw all there money's into a big pot then wonder how come the fishery is broke after raising fees and such.................... that is one of the most - best programs they ever came up with even thru I have never gave it a go or spend money to support it , if I wanted too I know that it would  ( the money) all go back into that fishery !!!.....

Here in NY every time the governor sucks more money out of us working people for this or that it never goes for this or that. The B@$+@^)$ ought to be tared and feathered. Since NY is one of the highest taxed states in the US, giving more money to the Government just rubs us the wrong way. Now see what you done, you've got me started. LOL

Federal fund-givers won’t budge on New York’s budget bugaboos.

It was reported last summer that funds the Department of Environmental Conservation receives from two federal programs will be withheld if state budget designations are not specifically changed to exclude funds government officials grant for fish and wildlife programs.

For decades, the federal government has collected billions of excise tax dollars for the sale of hunting gear through the Pittman-Robinson program and for the sale of fishing tackle through the Dingle-Johnson program.

A percentage payment must beadded to outdoors items from hooks to bullets to guns to boats. In return, the federal government assesses taxes collected and makes payments to each state. This year, payment totals to New York will be about $21 million, based on the number of sporting licenses sold in 2011.

However, Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s 2011-12 budget contains phrasings/ stipulations that suggest or indicate that DEC funds could be used elsewhere.

Federal guidelines for approving PR and DJ payments stress that those funds must be held in a dedicated fund for fish and wildlife needs only. Phrasing in Cuomo’s budget would allow the state’s Department of Budget to use Conservation Fund money for other state financial needs.

According to federal rules, states can neither use these grant funds in support of non-fish and wildlife efforts nor even borrow from the fund.

The interest of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service is to ensure states spend money specifically on outdoors-related projects. States can buy real estate (arable and marshland) for wildlife management use. They can construct additions and upgrades to boat ramps and hunting access sites. These projects are all OK with the feds, provided anglers and hunters have access and use of these facilities for part of the year.

Right now, Cuomo’s budget calculations do not meet U. S. Fish and Wildlife standards for grant approval. For now, DEC programs have not been affected; however, the loss of federal funds could be crippling and possibly curtailing essential DEC production sometime in 2012.

Sporting groups and outdoors program coordinators statewide urge all to contact legislative representatives and Gov. Cuomo to address corrections in proposed budget designations that will comply with federal requirements for obtaining excise tax payments to New York.

Now I open camp on the 15th of April and want and need 5+ days to make sure nothing is broke and boat is running good. So the first open days would be : April 22nd at the earlyest !!!! Ok.................let get checking and lock some thing in for all three of us if we can............

10 hours thats all. It doesn't get dark until 9pm.

If you want to come earlier it would be a better idea than staying longer unless you wanted to hit L.O. a day or two. The fishing will be real slow for a time after the derby with 100's of boats beating up on the fish !!!! We could also go over to Cayuga after the derby also !!!!

It's a done deal for me. I am planing to arrive on the 25th as early as I can and departing on the 28th after we are done fishing...At this point I am not sure if it will take me longer or not to get up there. I haven't done a mapquest yet.

Should I bring spoons along? How about other baits?

I will arrive as early as you want me too. What time do you want to start the pre fish? I could leave at 3am and be there around 7am. Unless you want me there earlier. I would be leaving on the 28th. After fishing.

7 would be good on the 25th , we can run and gun get a few spots in the GPS. Go in have lunch and pick up your derby ticket in Ovid. Pete pick yours up at the bait shop in Watkinsglen when you come up or if your here when we go to Ovid we can get it then.

Any special foods ya want me to bring along? I'll be bringing my journal along so lets make sure our cameras work and we have back-up batteries!

Not off the top of me head Pete ..........most any thing you have a hankering for I guess..............maybe I can get a few lanlocks , bows or brown before you guys get here and put the DARK BROWN sugar to these and do them up on the grill.

I ordered & paid for my NY license. I should have it in hand in a week to ten days...Woo wee, I'm ready!

After fishing all day something easy might be the way to go. If you guys want I'll spring for pizza one night.(hoot is welcome as well)  What other idea's have you guys have? I'll try to give you guys a call when I get back from the NE meet.

I was going to bring some sausage or kielbasi for quick grilling....How about for sandwiches? I'll bring a case of water along for the boat...something else for back at the cottage. Pizza is fine, but my vote is that we three split the cost and Hoot is our guest...Who's bringing the pie???!

I'll have hotdogs and burgers in the frezzer , Carol said she would make any salads that we wanted............not sure if we want her to make any of her baked beans cuz they would be gone before we got back in IFF'N you know who is in camp and he said he planned on seeing and busting all of us that he could..............

I'm be making two stops before or when I go back up. I'll be stopping at Dottie-Lou's for beef sticks ( I have some old ones from last year but didn't try them yet..........) also I have some of their Easter-Kilbasa at the lake now.
Wal-Mart..........bag of trailmix , crakers with sharp cheeder cheese about 4 packs of 6 in a pack............we'll get the bread and buns at the last minute say Pete and I can run to Ovid for gas and get it then on Friday............

This morning I picked up the case (35 pk) of water and some peanuts for munchies!

After looking at the weather forcast for Watkins Glenn, I will be sure to bring along my rain gear! I picked up some Dr Pepper today...

Ed, I made up 4 more of the black spoon plus I had an additional 2 more in my tackle box, one or two chartruse (sp) to bring along. Also some of those white / black and the colored tape....Heck, I'll bring my big box and we can chose what we need from that. I need to order some more of that green tape for the chartruse (sp) spoons.

It rained today and I forced myself to mow my lawn, looks like _____ , but I had to do it not sure if I'd get another opportunity. Having to work sucks some days. wawa wa.

Frank, ya gotta stop with that 4-letter word....Think RETIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only thing for me to do is smoke the salmon (tomorrow) and pack! Tomorrow and a wake up, woo wee!

Yep it looks like POP-UP rain for the whole week and weekend so bring some rain gear.............waiting for a guy to show up to look at our sandmound pump system then I'll be maknig a slow ride up..........still two stops W-M , Dottie-Lou and I'll stop at Seneca Marine in Watskinglen for my Derby Ticket !!!!!.......

The salmon is in the smoker and is almost ready! Finished my house chores and will start packing! Tonight I'm taking Karen out for dinner & a movie...

Mostly packed now and head'in out the door with my baby in my arm!

The only thing left is a wake-up! Last minute items that I'll pack in the cooler when I wake. I am doing a journal with pics for this trip and I'm not sure where I'll post it at yet. Perhaps I'll start a new "Turnips Journals" thread in the Miscellaneous Forum, we'll see. I know Erabbit arrived at camp this afternoon, so Frank, hurry up, Bro! We have some fish to catch!

Lake was flat when I got here yesterday and that way now............picked up every thing on my list BUT the crakers/cheader cheese at Wal-Mart ( didn't have the ones I like ) ..........I still have some anyway so it's ALL GOOD.............besides I got carried away and got a whole batch of stuff NOT on the list...............one small tweak job on the boat and check line on the rods we'll be using a boat will be good to go !!!!!.........still should mow the grass up here iff'n I get into it BUT we will maul down most of it driving in and out .......

Pete called a bit ago should be coming in camp any minute he was at the south end of the lake when he called and I was mowing grass................so we can talk about him ALL we want for the next 5 days..........

Ya Frank an't that some thing...............we went 5 for 6 today boated three lakers , a rainbow and a small brown......

sorry for the poor picture it was may falt I forget when the flash goes off you still have to hold still....................

5 for 8 today a tad bigger fish ........
4 lakers and a brown the two bigger lakers went 5.75# and  7#.........

We went 9 for 16 or so today couldn't keep them buttoned............weight all the fish in here and the three brown went on the derby board for now............3.5......5.17......and 5.77

Do you guys have room for another Amigo next year?

I would like to say "thank you" Wabbit & Carol for hosting this bash! Carol, your beans and pasta salad were as good as I remember!   My trip home was uneventful, but I'll bet the traffic is bad now!

Ditto, thanks for every thing, I'm glad that sodbuster didn't show and I was able to take alot of the left over Carol's famous baked beans home. I put some in the freezer and I should have enough to last me until the 4th of July. Ed your a lucky man, Carol takes good care of you and us when we're in town. Thanks again. Traffic wasn't bad a little in ithaca, still made it in 3 hours and 15 minutes not my best time, but alot better than my worst.

Thanks for the kind word guys .....glad you both had a good time and WOW all of us with personal best fish in one outing and Frank two for the trip.......wait I think Pete said he also beat his PB laker...........( both are DINKS compaired to what you or I have boated Frank BUT.............)  well Hoot said he would have enough beans for enough meals to LITE UP VESTAL what ever that means........I'll see if I can get the pictures up and also send ALL of them to you Pete...........
