Hey you Tennessee guys, I need some help. I live here in CA and I'll be heading to Nashville towards the end of July for our company's annual convention. I've never been there, but would love to get in some fishing while I'm there. I'm originally from Iowa (born and raised), only here in CA since retiring from the Navy. I fish all types of fresh water fish, mostly bass here, but no preference. I could go after crappies, catfish, pike just as easily. Could anybody give me some suggestions? Hmmm, could this be a trade-a-trip idea? I have a new 18.5' bass boat that I take out often, even competing in a local bass tournament. If you're heading out this way, I could take you to some trophy bass waters.

NAshville it'self is located on Old Hickory Lake as a section of the Cumberland River.  The Stones River crosses I-40 in East Nashville at Stewart's Ferry Pike near the airport and you can see the dam which empounds Percy Priest Lake right at the interstate exit.  You can call TVA's water release schedule for Precy Priest Lake if you want to fish the tail race of both of these dams at 800-238-2264 and follow the voice menu or on-line at http://lakeinfo.tva.gov/

The TVA steam plant at Gallatin, TN is a popular choise as is all of Percy Priest Lake.  And of course Dale Hollow Lake on the Cumberland, home to the world record walleye is not far away.

A lot of people come down to the Elk River near Jack Daniels Distillery to fish for stocked trout below Tims Ford Dam (one of my personal favorites) and there's also trout fishing opportunities east of Nashville on the Caney Fork River where at least one location is accessable from a major rest stop on I-40.

Good Luck.  If you wanted to do the trout thing maybe we could hook up.  :o)
