I'm a FL guy who has gotten used to fishing in the ocean and warm florida waters and am finding myself living in the smokey mountains with trout streams everywhere that are supposed to be stocked weekly and full of rainbow, brook, and brown trout and don't have the first clue about going out snagging some of these beauties beyond dropping a fly or piece of corn in the water on an egg hook and praying.  Any hints or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Jaqpaw, me being from St. Louis, I can't say for sure what will work best for you. But, here in MO and out in CO(some of the best trout waters in the country) Rooster Tails are killer.1/16 and 1/8 oz, in pink or chartreuse are the best.           Steve               Lifer since '95

Red fire balls, in the red lid glass jar. The green jar works ok, but the red jar has done me well. Rooster tails are good too. On the Clinch River below Norris Dam, you can use a 1/8 black spinner with a gold blade. I have noticed that trout, in our streams, seem to hang around rocks where water is flowing by at a nice pace; I reckon for oxygen reasons. If you don't any, buy you some waders. Then make your way to Norris and fishing between the weir dam and Norris dam. Or head down to Clinton and park behind Second Baptist Church's big parking lot and walk down to the water.

In case you don't have it: 865-632-2264 option 4, then 17 is the water release schedule for Norris Dam. Remember to use cation below dams, because water can rise rapidly.
