Hi all. I just wanted to let everyone know that the utah fly fishing club is holding a clean and cast event tomorrow 4/17 on the middle provo. A clean and cast cosists of spending the morning cleaning up the river banks and then enjoying a bit of fishing and companionship in the afternoon just in time for the BWO hatch. they will meet at the hub cafe in heber at 8:00 am. any and all are invited and it should be both fun and beneficial. Hope to see you there. check out http://utahflyfishingclub.com

well. the utah fly fishing club's first clean and cast event was a great success. I never realized picking up trash could be that enjoyable. I got to view the middle provo river in a new light. It was intersting to be able to walk along and observe the fish and the bugs hatching without the stress of getting in a cast. You knew you were making a difference and that the fishing could wait until later. I observed several rather large browns feeding that I might have missed otherwize. we gathered a large pile of filled trash bags. most of the trash was bottles and cans but their were several intersting finds. I came back with an innertube and a couple of broken wooden landing nets. A bike was found in the river along with a couple of lawn chairs.

our next project is the lower provo river, possibly the one body of water that needs cleaining the most in utah.

Good job guys, missed it due to work. Now days it is real hard to miss any days cause we are so short on people that someone who would have been able to go home would have to stay and cover my positition.

How was the fishing after the clean up?

Hey utbuck. I unfortunatly was only able to spend about an hour fishing. since I am new to fly fishing I spent most of that working out the Bugs both on my casting and literally out of the trees. I did however have a nice take but did not close the deal. I heard that some of the other guys did good. The blue wing olives where hatching and the stream was pretty crowded. When I was cleaning up my section I spotted quite a few nice looking browns. If you havn't already done so please check out the website that I posted earlier. One of my favorite parts of the outing was the ham steak breakfast at the Hub.
