hello, well feeling better, this virus, and the flu is going around alot around here. Nephew wants to go out this weekend, and you can drive out now. Its cold, in these hill's. Alot of cold weather, and we haven't got hit with alot of snow yet. I heard they have been getting alot, near lake ontario? I was stationed at ft. drum, for about a year. I think you have to have your shanty's off of the ice, in march, not sure of the last day, but, this is sure going to be a short ice fishing season. You can still fish for perch, pike, but trout season closes in march.

Just to let you know, I am still here. Went on a Five day Camping and Fishing trip to Lake Champlain, on Father's Day weekend. My Nephews caught some fish, Bullfin's, Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike. The pike was 35.5 inches long, and weighed in at 9.02. I fished but caught nothing big. Had more fun watching them fish. Now its back to reality. Hopefully I will get the boat out this summer, for some bass and trout trolling. Had a ball on my downrigger go to the bottom of the lake, so got to buy a new one. Anyone got a round downrigging ball, hanging around the house, they don't need? I am going to some websites to look for one. Also, my nephew stepped on my strike king fishing sunglasses. I loved those things. Broke them up. Oh well. Try and find another pair. The motor on my boat ran alright, but probley could use a tune up again. Idle, needs to be checked. We had nice weather, except on Saturday night, a big Thunderstorm, hit, and I had a blue tarp, across the wooden leanto i was staying in, well the bottom, kepted blowing in it, with the rain, so i went out and with thumbtacks, and tacked it down. Air Mattress are ok, but not that great. Well trying to get some sleep now, on my own bed. Looks like we are going to get another thunderstorm here tonight. Going to say goodnight.

I've never been to conesus lake so I'll call that a scouting trip. Its suppose to have just about anything. I'll only be there a couple of days. Than to the adk for tiger muskies and bass. The last time I was there I caught mostly bass and perch with no muskies. The water should be warmer (maybe) so we'll see if the T muskies are biting. I went to canadarago lake last weekend. I spent 6 hours on the water and caught two fish. The wind picked up and my 12ft. row boat started getting tossed around a little so I packed it in. The thunder storms have stopped here as well and it might not hit 70 today. No fishing this weekend for me either its my daughter graduation. So I'll be busy with that. Here in NY you are aloud 1 30" Tiger muskie. My son just graduated from suny Plattsburgh this year, but I never made time to fish lake Champlain. I hear its great for small mouth.

Yes, Lake Champlain has got alot of different species in it. Alot of nice Smallmouth's in there. Pike, etc. Bring alot of lure's. Big lake. Can be nasty at times, so you need a good size boat, to go out in it. I have fished the Northern part, and also, down by Ft. Ti, so far. Just touching different area's when i go. During the winter, i sometimes get in one of there ice fishing tournments. Usually go for Northern's, for that. I went to the graduation party today, but before i left my nephew showed up, to say, that my other nephew's dog, a beagle, tigger, got killed by a car last night, down below there home, which is just a short walk, from my place. She was only six monthes old. Also had to go to a WWII Vets funeral yesterday to. Bad things come in three's, so i am waiting for the third one right now. Not in no mood to party. Left the party early. My Nephew who's dog got killed, he had to be there, as it was partly for him. so sad.

So I smiled and he was right things got worse. But persistance and time got me through it. I just decided that I wasn't going to allow circustances that I couldn't control beat me. Just got home from a great day of fishing with a friend of mine, who was in my unit, during Desert Storm. We fished all day Saturday, in a lake that was only five miles from the border of Canada, in Vermont. We caught some small lakers, and released them. Then I said to him, we could try closer to my home on Sunday, so we went to a local lake five miles from my hometown. We got on the water, at about 1030am. It was raining all this morning, but we still went, and glad we did. We caught some more small Lake Trout, and released them. Then at about 7:45pm, my friends fly rod, with a 6 lb leader, which was on my downrigger, got a hit, and the fight was on. Twenty minutes later, he had a 16.68 lb, Lake Trout in my boat. It measured at 35.5 inches long and was a male. Boy am i tierd, and so was he. I took alot of pictures of him fighting the fish and after we got it weighed in. Well, all for now.

Spent a week there for work in august, stayed at Little River campground for labor day weekend. All the main rivers (winooski, dog, etc) were really low. Tried some night fishing on the winooski, no luck. Got a few browns and rainbows (nothing over 12", but all a lot of fun) out of the Little River. Also learned a lesson about wading within a gorge in an intermittent release tailwater...thankfully i found an escape route (fairly) quickly.

Didnt get to fish as much as i would have liked, but it was my first time fishing in vt ever, and it was gorgeous and a blast when i could get out.
