    I grew up in Roanoke, VA and have fished Smith Mountain Lake as a kid.
    Well, I'm hoping to return to fish the Optimus Tournement the first weekend May 2006, and I'm looking for some info, please?
    Looking for input on everyones favorite lures for LMB, SBM, crappie, walleye, and catfish on the lake.
    That way after Christmas when I get all these awesome gift cards to the different fishing company's, I can get some nice new tackle to bring down with me.
    Any info would be great for spring time fishing on Smith Mountain Lake water, up in gills creek, blackwater, and roanoke river.

    I remember Smith Mountian Lake before it was a lake.   If you looked out from "Mitchells Marina you would see the rest of his farm (that is under water)  I did alot of fishing and camping there as a kid in the 60s.  Caught some serious catfish near the dam.  All on a Zebco 404 (which I still have today)
