    what is the best thing to use?

    Most guys fish Bead in the winter for Burbot. A big gob of nightcrawlers seems to work well. As for your question about long lk, are you fishing above or below the dam? The better fishing in long is up river. Tum Tum and felton slough are good spots as well as willow bay.
