I'm new to the Eastern Panhandle area and I'm also new to fishing. I have been fishing in the rivers of the Potomac River and the Shenandoah River . for the last 4 months , I do not have a boat so I have been fishing from the shore. Just wondering if their is anyone in the area who also enjoys fishing? and is a member of a local club.

If you trout fish and/or smallmouth fish, try the South Branch of the Potomac. there is a lot of good wadiing areas all the way from where it meets the North fork all the way back to the head waters. There are still alot of fall trout in the waters around Petersburg and Smoke Hole areas. In January they start throwing the trout in all the way thru May also.

I live in Maryland not far from you. I fish both those great rivers. Great kayak and wading fishing. Last year by Harpers Ferry some friends of mine talked to a guy who had caaught 2 large Walleye. So I would say try around there. I am usally tearing up Smallies.
