Man what the heck is going on back there. I use to fish Dunkard Creek when I was a kid. Caught losts of bass and catfish on it. I also fished Stonewall Jackson once while I was on leave got lots of crappie and bass. I'm from Greensboro, Pa and Dunkard was my favorrite place to fish. I live in Washington State now and it sadins me to hear the creek has been poisoned. I think alot of it comes from the coal mines waste. Sure hope they figure it out and fix it.

aww it has been years since you've been around. its not only the coal mines its those damn gas well companies from texas thats doin it. they come in hydro out the shale and remove the gas, then what happens, all that crap from under ground seeps into the waters. its bad around here anymore, all these companies from out of state come here and buy up all the land, rip the guts out of it and move on. its sad, really sad.

Yes it has been years since I lived back there. I have been here for the past 31 years I retired out of the Navy and just stayed. I still have family back there. I have s sister in Mount Morris and a sister in Sabraton just outside of Morgantown WVA. So I do get back there once in awhile. You would think that the state would make them claen up thier mess or maybe they just don't give a crap as long as the money rolls in. are they doing it in Pa and WVa? do you know if they screwed up the Monogahella yet? My wife retires in March and we were thinking of towing out 20' Triton back there and doing some fishing on the river and then heading up to Maine for some good smallmouth action.

Harry the mon is so high in PCB's right now it aint funny. they do a water check for salmonella two to three times a month. its not only happening on the West Virginia Side, but the P.a. side as well. even though I am No tree hugger by all means, growing up in this area and fishing and hunting it all my life it saddens me to see it all go down.

what is nice though, is the fact that the Wv Dnr and the P.A. fish and game commission are working together finally to fight these people. if ya ever get back this way besure to check out the wma's at core west virginia, they ( wv dnr ) reclaimed ole mine lakes and cleaned them and made them into some great fishin!

You know Eric when I was a kid the mon was so poluted that it was hard to even catch a catfish in it. Then when the claean water act went into effect they claened it up and it had everything from bass to walleye. They held 2 Bassmasters Classics on it and now it seems that it is going back to the way it was. But it is good to hear that someone is trying to do something.
I ***** about this state all the time, the wather sucks, none of the money we pay for fishing and hunting lisenses go to the WFWL it goes into a general fund so they can build roads and bridges in Seattle( which by the way runs the state), we have more tree huggers than you can count, and every time we turn around we're beeing taxed again. BUT when it comes to fishing all our lake and streams have claer clean water. I don't know Everyone thinks that Washington has only trout and salmon but we have some of the best bass fishing in the NW. I have been fishing the NW Bass Por Circut for the past 4 years and we have between 90 to 125 boats per tournament the bass is that good here. So I guess it isn't that bad here after hearing what is going on back there.

Buy the way what part of Wv do you hail from. I use to do alot of dringking down there when I was in High School lol
when I get back there again maybe we could hook up and have a beer or 12.

Man what a smsll world. I know where both of those towns are. The last time I was back there my niece had a birthday party in a bar Maidsville, got a little drunk out that night. If you ever stop and eat at Bob Evens in Morgantown say hi to my sister she is the manager there it's the one just off I-70 Joice Bosley is her name. I have fished some pay lakes in Pa just out side of Carmichaels caught some big trout and cats. Let me tell you about crappie fishing. Last june my wife and I a another couple fished a lake in Oregon called Brownlee Res. In four days we caught over 1000 1 1/2 to 2 pound crappie I have never seen anything like it. There is no limit and everyday people would come in with four or five hundred a day. I only kept 300 cuz I got tird of cleaning them. Man what a fishery and it's been like that for years. Gonna go back in 2012 can't go next year have to go to Vegas for our 40th.
