Folks, I'm like most folks, I want to get the boat out early.   This year instead of going on a Minn. ice fishing trip in March, I want to go south with my boat late March or early April.  Not sure where to go, and am looking for some help.  Illinios, Iowa, Tenn, Or somewhere else?  Where should I go and what can I expect.  I fish mainly bass.  Give me some ideas folks.

    Thanks...

I used to go to Bull Shoals every April, but it can be a tough lake to fish, and it seems to be hit or miss as far as the action goes. I finally decided it just wasn't worth it to make that long trip, and not catch much. It's a great place to be that time of year, and it's a beautiful lake, and it great for boating if you like to just haul a** for miles. Kentucky Lake is a place I've thought of going to because it has  good reputation, and it's closer. This year the plan is to go to Dale Hollow in TN in April. There are lots of big lakes down south to choose from, it all depends on how far south you want to go. I hope you have a good trip wherever you go.

Hey guys, I don't fish for large mouth but there's a few lakes near me that have ( so I'm told ) some real good bass populations. If you look at a map of N.E. Oklahoma, there's alot of lakes including Grand Lake, Lake Tenkiller, Lake Hudson, and Fort Gibson Lake.

I've been on Hudson catfishing when F & G was shocking and tagging fish. They told me the lake has a good population of 5 lb. and up large mouth.

I've got friends that fish Tenkiller for large and small mouth and say they do really good.

I've caught a few large mouth by accident on Fort Gibson Lake that were in the 5 - 6 lb. range.

I've never fished Grand Lake, but alot of bass tournaments are held there and there's alot of 20 lb. and up catfish caught there.

If you decide to come down in March or April, give me a shout and I'll try to get you onto some "spring run" sand bass and crappie.

BTW, temps here in the spring are usually 60 to 70 during the day and 30 to 50 at night. I usually fish at night during the spring run and coveralls are highly recomended.

Started some checking, looking close at Barkley Lake in Ky.  Now the wife and kids want to go ( on vacation ) too.  Not sure what the final decision will be, still looking.  Thanks for the input so far folks, keep it coming.

Table Rock lake is near Branson MO. Lots of shows and stuff for the family, and the BPS headquarters isn't far either. If you wanted to stay posh you could go here.
