The problem with trying to recommend equipment is that for every person that likes a certain model reel OR rod....there's another person on the opposite end of the scale that says the piece is the worst "piece of sh*t" thing that has happened since sliced bread.
From MY limited experiences....I will say this.
TRY to find a used reel in good condition....for a fair price. Match it up to SOME kind of an appropriate rod and use it a few times. Then write down what you liked / didn't like. THEN start looking around the Internet for thoughts about the item.
JMHO....and I hope you see what I'm saying.
