I feel these forums would be a better place by using volunteers as moderators. These appointed moderators should have the power to move posts from one forum to another, to lock threads when they have been beat to death & to delete any offensive posts. The extra eyes on the forums by these moderators would only serve to make this a more user centric site. Many people have slammed the new forums because of losses of old posts dislike of the new site etc etc. This may be a way to invest back into the users here & empower the moderators to help support the reason these forums were put here. I posted a similar thread in the lifers forum to gauge the idea. So far I would say its a generally positive reaction.
