The forums are in the process of being updated.

This is phase one which makes it easier to add images within your post, change the read order of your posts from first or last at the top and change how many posts you can view at a time on the screen. There is an easier html interface to customize your posts and the ability to rate posts. We look forward to adding member photo albums and other features in the near future.

In the next day or two you should also notice a performance improvement. We've updated the servers that host the forums and expect much faster speeds.

    Personal Messaging is temporarily down.

    Thanks for your patience.

Well Updating servers that host the forums is a good thing. Hopefully they are a bit more "Up to speed"

Yes. I know it's a pain in the butt to change a system everyone is comfortable and familiar with.

We're hoping that over the next few weeks there will be more improvements that will be a great improvement over the old system and make that change worth while.

Right now it's a gradual update and bug fixes for the next few days.

The Biggest complaint I guess I have is the breakdown of the categories. If those are broke down better, The software seems decent.

well to Me it seems more well laid out. BUT it would have been nice to let us the membership know it was goin to happen. BUt the track record of the nafc aint gunna change LOL the last time ( 2007 ) they just shut everyone out and moved everything. I know I was locked out for almost a week, then I lost almost 3k post and had to start over, course the post loss isnt a big thing to me, but the fact of being a life member for almost 10 years to not be given a heads up on the change.

I preferred the breakdown of the last version of the forums. But We'll see what happens. I just want the forums to run smoother and faster than they were running before.

During your great reconstruction will there be a Chatroom? You may think that there would be no need due to the fact that we don't use the one we have or had but we can't use what we can't find!

Hi Scott, can you explain a little more about the breakdown of categories? I'm trying to picture what you're suggesting.

    Thanks!

See how you have "fishing Club forum" as the main Category, with for instance, NAFC Feedback as a sub category, with North American Fisherman Magazine Feedback , Ask the Editors, North American Fisherman TV and Radio Feedback As SUB Sub Categories? If you break it down as it was previously, NAFC Feedback would be a Category of it's own, not a sub category. The only 3 categories you have now, are the Fishing Club Forum, Members Only, and Life Members Only.

When the change first occurred the speed was up.  Well, that hasn't lasted very long.  The big slow-down occurres during the posting process, and the more posts you make during a defined period of time the slower it gets, to the point of being "timed out"...

I hope the PMs return shortly.  I am trying to administer an activity that was started before this last change and a good bit of data is in those PMs!  An up front notification would have been nice!

To be fair I must say that overall the change has been good...

Hey Turnip!  You are so right about the forum posts!  I even had my computer checked since we have operated a small business out of our home for years.  How can a business with 177,565 members at last count have its forum tied up?  If the note at the bottom is correct, I have never seen more than six on the forum at one time.  We must have a one horse version in the front office, why not go to a twenty mule team.  I would have mentioned a new engine but most of the oil is in one of my old favorite fishing holes along the Gulf.  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

ryfish, the answer to your question is yes, but you must use a "hosting site" such as "Photobucket"...

I hope this is a help to you!
