Now before I start I've got to admit that I'm not the most computer savvy person around, but I am noticing a lot of glitches in the system around here. For instance it seems to take forever for pages to load ( reminiscent of when we used to have dial up internet service ) but we have a high speed broadband connection these days and I watch my wife navigate through her various forums ( she spends much more time on the computer than me...lol and she's much better at these things) yet on her forums the pages load like lickity split, so I know its not because our system is loaded with viruses or something.
Anybody else having these troubles?
Also cannot seem to get a smiley con into my text block no matter what I try..... whats the deal? I just would like to become more active in the forums, but I don't have the patience or time to wait like forever it seems like to make a few posts. |

After doing a little digging through the forums i discovered the speed issue with the pages loading etc. is not uncommon. I sure hope they can get that resolved.
I'm still wondering about the smiley con issue as far as how you get them from the stable into the text block of your post. |

hoosierbuddy: We are indeed experiencing some slow-loading problems and dreaded "500" errors on the website, but our IT peeps are hard at work moving us to bigger and better servers. My boss, Web Guru Chad, provided me with this much-more in depth explanation: "These errors are all caused by the same thing, which is essentially the Amazon servers we are on not playing nice with the content server that serves up most images, skins, etc.... So the fix is to move to new servers with better support from the server farm. ... IT has been doing stress tests on a duplicate environment of the site this last week, and all has checked out well. When they confirm the night they will be moving, we will let you know here.... It shouldn't be down for more than a half hour they tell me, but if I get additional info, I will let you know that as well." So hang in there with us, we're hoping smooth sailing as soon as possible. -- Regards, Web Guy Greg

Thanks for the response Greg. I have every confidence that you guys will get it all ironed out as soon as you can. I have already noticed an improvement is the speed of pages loading as it seems pretty zippy this morning. Good luck with all the techno issues and have a great week! |

FishingClub.com Performance Update: Hey everybody, I just got an update from IT Guy Joel, detailing the last steps in our move to better servers that will run faster and avoid the dreaded 500 errors. I've pasted the full text of the update below. -- Web Guy Greg "The web servers have functions for detecting when a website becomes unhealthy and restarting them when them when they become "sick." During the transition to our new hosting facility, these functions may have hidden bigger issues (mass 500 errors) so they were disabled. We will be enabling and tuning these functions today. Every effort will be made to ensure there are no outages, but there may be intermittent hiccups. Thanks for your patience." -- IT Guy Joel |

Just wanted to encourage you tech guys a little bit. Things are getting a little better around here. The speed has definitely picked up a bunch and not getting near as many 504 timeout errors. Although I did get one of them this morning when i hit the add reply tab, but it doesn't seem to happen in the quick reply box. Just keep up the good work guys! God bless! |

This site is like going to your favorite "hole in the wall" diner. It is good most of the time. But, once in a while, when you go there, it's not very good! It has it's good days and it's bad days. Recently, it has been mostly good in my experience. |

hoch04: I'm really sorry the site is not working for you! I've repsonded to your two other posts about this issue elsewhere on the site, but will reiterate here: i need some specifics to help you -- what OS are you using? What web browser? What time of day, night or evening does this usually happen, or is it all the time? That should help give IT better understanding of what might be wrong. Thanks, Grg |

I used Comcast high speed internet and I had NO problems with the site speed. But then switched back to a different computer that had a Cricket modem and it was ridiculously slow. So I think in regards to the speed issue, it may in some cases, be related to whatever modem or browser you have. |

Hey folks, I've been forwarding summaries of your issues to Joel in IT, who sent me this update: "Our Infrastructure Improvement project is nearly complete and has yielded great improvements. The next step in improving member experiences with the sites will be to go over the club site code with a fine toothed comb looking for what appears to be a lot of very small problems, which when added up, can be aggravating. We acknowledge the need to improve our club sites, and have every intention of working on it until our club sites provide a first class experiences for our users. " So hang in there, folks, we are indeed working hard on this. |

Part of the problem is that Microsoft, Google, Yahoo....and a vast BUNCH of 'Net advertising companies came to an agreement in the spring of last year about BOTH collecting AND sharing user data...so that we ALL can get MORE spam / advertisements SHOVED in our faces At the same time...it's no secret that the NAFC forums have ALWAYS been one of the slowest...if not THE worst. The nvero connection started it...and now the Facebook javascripts have added to it. It's a SHAME that we have lost SO many folks who gave GREAT info on ALL fishing issues. And is why I don't hardly EVER come on here anymore...as the hangups are just too |

watching my hair turn gray is faster than this site. All other forums that i'm on are really fast. Can't stand spending so much time waiting for pages to turn like you said.Thought they would have gotten this up and running faster by now.Maybe it's something on my part but we have a newer pc.Just wished things would speed up and would spend more time here. |

I can honestly say that everyone I have talked to on this site has had issues with it. I have had only occasional problems, nothing like all these guys are having...its no wonder so many members ignore the site. If the club would fix things in here, activity would pick up immediately. WAKE UP NAFC! People can't get on the site! |
