Exciting news--FishingClub.com is getting a new look! However, it means the site will be down starting at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 and should be operational again by 12 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4. The site will be getting a new look and feel that we hope enhances your experience. With this change, there will be a few bumps in the road that you might find before we do. Please post any issues here (screen shots are helpful) and we will fix them as soon as possible. Thanks for bearing with us.

Why does this announcement fill me with a sense of impending doom? Seems every time an attempt has been made to improve this site, the opposite has occured! Not to say there aren't many problems here, case in point I am writing this at 5:20PM CDT and the time stamp on Kurt's post is almost 4 hours in the future!

The site looks way better. However, the text in the forums is much smaller. It is hard to read, even for me, and I am only 27 and have 20/20 vision. Also, nothing except the appearance of the site has been improved. I hate to be so negative but I mean come on. I guess I was expecting a little more. I guess something is better than nothing!

One of the few places in the world where an improvement rarely is! I will admit there doesn't seem to be the disaster that has often accompanied "upgrades" here, but no real improvements other than astetic (sp?) So much for progress!

Hey guys, I'm the new internet development manager for the NAMG club sites and I'm glad to hear that you like the new look and that this was a smoother upgrade than some in the past. I just popped on to let you know that we're not done yet. We're going to be reorganizing some of the pages and content so that the menus make more sense and clean up some a lot more of the common areas. (Fonts, padding, buttons, etc. The add reply button above is a good example of what I'm talking about.) We're being cautious about the content re-org because some of our content, some of your bookmarks, and the stuff that google and bing have indexed will be located in different parts of the site. If in the coming days you find links that don't work please report them here because it could be due to that.

Anyway, Kurt posted this thread for those kinds of issues but if things are for the most part good with the looks let's turn this in to a list of what features aren't working correctly. (Screenshots and links would be helpful.) IMHO, this site has reached a fraction of it's potential for this club and together I think we can make it the best fishing site, period, and making the stuff we have now work would be a nice first step.

    Thanks in advance,

    Lloyd

Good morning all. Thanks for the great comments. I'm glad that you like the new look, and as Lloyd pointed out--we're not done yet. One quick note: Login/Logout is at the top-right corner of the screen. While we are striving to make the transition seamless, you'll no doubt find some things that need attention before we do. Please be sure to post them here and the team will get them fixed as soon as possible. Kurt, NAF Editor

I like the attitude I hear from Lloyd, but experience tells me to take a wait and see attitude. So far what I see is a fresh coat of paint on a condemned building.

I like the black background, but there are a couiple of issues that I noticed.
    1. Under the North American Fishing Club banner, and above the twitter, facebook, product testing area is a big white blank. However, when I run my cursor over it, Home, benefits, members, etc pop up.

    2. I see no log in/log out spot anywhere on any page.

    3. I see no link to contact customer service or any other place at HQ for that matter.

I just got a message from Burt welcoming me to the club. I have been a lifer since 2003, and I seem to have gotten another member number. I would like to contact someone about that.

    Thanks,

    Salty Dan

Dave, Dan, do you have access to Firefox? It looks like IE8 is banging up the site for you and some others but if you can use firefox in the meantime it should look good to you. The contact us, bill pay and welcome emails are of greater concern to me. Let me do some digging into that today and I'll have the IE stuff fixed next week.

I like the new look of the site, it better matches some of the designs on the club's TV show (especially the logo in the top left corner). The only problem I'm having is the inbox message bar near my profile info at the top of the page sometimes has two links and sometimes only one for inbox. Not a big deal, I don't think many of us are sending many inbox messages (I don't get them often at all) but just something to be aware of. Once again, nice new coat of paint!

Oops, I suppose I spoke too soon. I guess while I have iTunes open the site will crash periodically, especially when switching between forum pages. But then again I am using IE I don't even know what version, so I think that might just be a cue to upgrade

Firefox had issues a few months ago with the "blocking fiasco"...I won't go there again.

Good luck with the IE8 Lloyd

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I think that's a javascript error you're getting Dave. Good catch! What issues did you have with firefox (or was it issues the site had with firefox?). It just figures agoldswo was only able to get the payment page to work in ie. Just goes to show ya how much I know. ;-).

These are all great catches guys. I got some more developers focused on this stuff now so I think you should be seeing more improvements from all your feedback.

why dose it link to the community page . I thought my page was suppose to be for my status updates and other folks to write on like my wall in facebook, not what every one posts on a daily basses . If i wanted to know who joined what group i would look under community not my page.

Because the software writers are LIMITING what can be done in this "type" of topic /thread.

Seems with this latest change to the format here the club is making an intentional effort to alienate the older members whose eyes aren't what they used to be. I am not opposed to progress, but change for no mother reason than change is kinda pointless and this effort could be spent on fixing some of the problems here.

Ya, the color change is nice but the font size is small. Also, when I am going to a topic and I click on a page number it automatically goes to page #1 instead of the page I clicked on!

I don't know what to describe this as...except as harrassment by the software writers for the club.

I checked this topic about 3 weeks ago...and it was complete.

NOW it has been cut to only my original post.

    WTH is going on???

I'll have to say this coat of black paint on the front page has done little to improve my "user experience" here...not only am I experiencing most of the problems already brought up in this thread...now I'm getting an error message when trying to enter a contest. This site never ceases to amaze me...

i`ve got to agree with you guys the management has a fowl smell about it- i remember years ago the computor would solve the worlds problems- it might if it had someone to feed data into it- i`ll admit it isn`t me- at one time i could fix anything now i do good to fry an egg on the stove- i enjoy reading the forums and commenting sometime but this neww format jumps around faster than my fingers can work-i gave up on testing things long ago due to the hassell- i take issue with facebook, twitter, all the rest of them- you guys don`t care abouthow much crap i flushed this morning and other stupid things we all do during the day- i guess what i`m saying is why can`t they get it to working?

N.A.F.C. is on the express to oblivion!! The field testing benefit is now horrible at best. This forum site is nearly comatose. The only thing worth having from N.A.F.C. anymore is the magazine, which was all I ever really wanted when I joined anyhow. When that comes down to the level of everything else around here, I'll be checking out for good. What a shame!!!
