I just wanted to take a second to ask BBers to weigh in with comments pertaining directly to the February 2006 or the December/January 2005-'06 issues of North American Fisherman.
Please share your specific comments about the articles in those issues--I'd really appreciate hearing from you!
Thanks!

As for the Honor Roll, to be fair to all Life Members, we determine which member names we feature in the magazine by a simple random drawing. Every issue, we draw another 50 names.
The member chosen for Life Member spotlight (like the one on page 76 of the Feb. issue) is simply one of the individuals on the randomly chosen list who we have a good photo of--which is all the more reason for you to submit high-quality Member Photos and Catch & Release Contest photos.
I'm going have to ask you to be more specific regarding your question:
"also could you please answer the question that are in this section addressed to the editor about the the magazine and fishing trips and etc."
What specific questions are you referring to?
Thanks

As for the "male enhancement" ads, please expect a response from our member services department placed on that thread in the immediate future.
Thanks for your comments. They're very important to us!
Best,

I can understand why all the boat reveiws at this time of year. I just don't like the fact that the majority of article space was devoted to it. Let's make the boat issue a few pages bigger is what I'm asking. That, and some real reveiws, some side by side statistical analysis. The boat reveiws sound like the author went out to a sales office and just wrote down what the salesman was telling him. As a journalism major in college I learned to rewrite PR releases for the Entertainment section: movie, book reviews, that kinda thing. These boat reviews have that feel to them. It would be nice to see a table to compare statistics of the different models, also, let's talk about the drawbacks of this model over that model. I think they should give members a real analysis, both pro and con. |

The hands on, make something, learn a new fishing technique, learn about the habits of a particular fish species type articles are the best, and honestly I wouldn't mind seeing the magazine packed cover to cover on every page with them, as I 'm sure everyone would. I understand the financial practicalities of that also and don't mind the advertisement as long as it's tasteful. I think you should devote more space to members communicating with each other than you do. However, that might have to do with the amount of members submitting classifieds. All in all, I think you guys are doing a pretty god job. Keep it up! As a former newspaper writer I remember getting 20 complaint letters to every complimentary one. I hope that's not happening to you guys because you don't deserve it!
Thanks |

We are correspnoding with the editors to express our desires for the club that we chose to be a part of for the rest of our lives. We understand that we can not have it all, but if we work together we can have the best of it. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Originally posted by: Kaiman on 2/18/2006 6:52:15 AM The only comment I have is about the boat reviews. It would be nice to have entry-level boats together with the high priced ones in the magazine. Perhaps, alternatives to boats, such as tubes, canoes, etc. for people with thinner wallets. Ever considered to have boat reviews in alternating issues?? That way people get info several times a year, and not only during the first couple of months.
I don't want to get into the add discussion. But I've noticed, not only with the clubs magazine, that adds are taking over articles space. I pay over $200 a year on magazine subsrciptions and I get more adds in them then valuable articles. Kind of makes me wonder why I have to pay all that money if the companies pay the publisher big bucks to have their adds printed.
I will say no more! |

Originally posted by: ROD TENDER on 2/18/2006 10:55:18 AM Ryan, Both issues were excellent! There are three things in the Feb Magazine that I really liked. One: was that the club changed the Gear giveaway cards to bar-code so members don't have to send their personal info through the snail mail anymore. Second: was the hands on article on pages 48- 51 Fit to be Tied, we have a lot of younger members on the B&B with questions more hands on articles about rigging etc like this would help out immensely. And Third: was the short segment on page 80 about photo finishing for publication, again a lot of questions come up on the B&B about club benefits, what’s are they, what’s required to submit a story or picture, who do we send it to, etc.
Thank you for the great job you’ll do and thanks for asking for our input. <!--graemlin:;)--> |
