I thought the article "Gear For Anglers With a Panfish Passion" in the May/June issue was excellent, but I was surprised to see that flies weren't mentioned among the gear listed. I primarily panfish on streams in Southeast Oklahoma such as the Glover River and it's tributaries and there have been many times when I have caught a stringer of bluegills, greens, etc. on popper flies when other techniques weren't producing anything for me or others fishing with me. I focus these topwater bugs on rocks, grass, lily pads, roots, etc. near the bank with great success. Let the bug just float there for a while and bream will quite literally explode on your fly! There's not many things more fun than floating down the river and catching a big ol' goggle-eye on a light action fly rod!

WTG JMLee---You are absolutely right on that! It is a lot of fun using flies on either a fly rod or spinning rod with a bubble! Also; welcome to the forums. Hope ta see you more often in here.Take care and God Bless.-----Bill J.

JMLee, you're abolutely right; poppers on a floating line are fun and productive. There just wasn't enough room in the space allowed to try to tackle fly fishing as well. That's a topic for another story.

I enjoyed the article. I thought I would have seen something about small spinners. I use a Panther Martin #1 or2, and I catch good amounts of fish with them.
