Kyle
Thanks for your observation.  I am disabled physically and get lots of things mixed up, but I hope you find the answers you are looking for.  In those answers I hope you find a reason to hang in there.  My hat is off to you and to Kurt for his response.
I learned more from Kurt than all the letters and notes I have gotten.  A long time ago I learned that any club is only as strong as its weakest link-- usually, that was me.  There are great possibilities for this club and I am going to stick in there.  Together, we can make it stronger but we all know there are no "free  lunches"--its what "WE" make it!  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

First off, Kurt been doing a heck of a job attempting to answer questions and concerns. Thanks Kurt!

I for one have definatly gotten my money's worth being a lifer for 10 years. never had a problem with mags not arriving. this alone had covered my dues. Got to test a few items. Just make sure to send in your report, and if possible thank the manufacturer of the product. Maybe if they get reponses they will be more likely to send the club items to test in the future. I have taken advantage of a couple of the clubs offers such as a calandar and a book. True the volumn of offers sent by the club and other companies gets a bit annoying at times. I have met some great people through the club and the forum and have learned alot and hopefully helped a few along the way. I just wish more of these people lived closer to me or I got a chance to travel more.

rhicks and others, i hope you stick around for a while and see what the club has to offer. Look at things with perspective and hopefully you will find reasons to stay and take advantage of what is being offered, knowledge and fellowship.

Brian

Fishing! enough said.

brain, ya said a mouth full right there and that pretty much says it all for me 2. my only problem with the feild testing is that when i've been sent something-- it's mostly an open water bait and i get it as the ice is forming on the lakes. then it will be about 5 to 6 months before i can test it, then that product has already been in the mag.

I had the same experience, I recieved the Banjo Minnow Big Fish kit in October. Fortunately we had a few good days of weather and I was able to get out and fish with the product, something that is not guaranteed in late Oct. northern Illinois. Tom

I have been a 'Lifer' for about 8 years now. Before that I was a regular member for 3 or 4 years. And I am considering on becoming a 'Trophy' member soon. Like any Club... it is what you want to make of it. If you are in it just for the rags(or mags for you civilized folk),then that is what you will get out of it. Life membership gets your name on a custom fishing rod & reel combo and other amenities. I field tested a few items. Some was junk and I told them so. Some was prime equipment and I told them so. Still have my Rapala Tackle Bag and Minn Kota Trolling Motor. Wish I still had that Titanium Drill Bit set though. Sombody liked it more than me and stole it. Many of my bud's have become Life Members because of the stuff I tested. But I apply myself to the Club. I make it what I want to do with it. By selling them short, you will shorten your life experiences. Been a member of B.A.S.S. for years. They cost me more $$ than NAFC. And last time I was up in Minnesota, that was where I found the NAFC which is also the North American Hunting Club and Handymans Club or something like that. Plus, since I have no idea where you are, here is a point to ponder. Many NAFC members have formed mini-clubs or chapter events in their home states, getting together 3 or 4 times a year for 'meets' and 'mini-meets'. New and old members band together for a week end or weeklong events,go camping,fishing,fellowship,fishing,raffle's,fishing,etc.,etc. and fishing. And who made it al possible...the North American Fishing Club. So have fun in your endeavors. Misery loves company. Ya can't please everybody. If your not happy, move on somewhere else. We'll get along just peachy without you. Bye.

  Life Member since 6/2010
I, too, am a returning member...I was a member of both NAFC and NAHC in the 90's, but due to the economic strains of that period, had to cancel. I was happy to get back into this club now, as my age has dictated my priorities in life....
I am OK with the magazine, both in content and in number of issues....as previously mentioned by members here, most, if not ALL publications are laden with adds....but instead of griping about them, LOOK at them....some are very worthwhile and beneficial to checkout. I have enrolled in the book club part, and this is the only place I now have some issues....although the initial book was well worth the $11, the next (and future??) one was kind of a shock at $29....I will have to see how this part plays out....as far as the 'testing' program, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!! I filled out my form online, along with my membership sign-up, and received my first test product the SAME day as my new member kit...even though it was only a small pack of new-style hooks, it was indeed very interesting, and I was happy to give my input.  As previously said in this section, your testing depends on your 'test profile'...if not happy, change your profile around to cover different aspects of the sport.  All in all, as long as NAFC is around as long as I am (43yrs. old), the mag. subscription will pay for the cost of the life membership, and when you add on the freebies, along with the card discounts, it's not that bad.  I can easily spend the amount of the life membership on other things that will in no way last as long...I was happy to get the offer, and have no regrets.....GOOD FISHING EVERYONE!!

Kyle,  Hang in there a little longer.  Who knows you may be the one to help get everything straight.  With this many members there are always some mistakes.  Some join with one idea and others join with even different ideas.  If we play our cards right we can make a real difference in this club.  I have already got a great deal from reading the forums daily.  I really enjoyed the books and learned a lot--could have done without the cookbooks.  Recently, lost two hundred pounds so eating is not one of my priorities.  Good luck, we need you!  Uncle Tom

Been a Life Member for 6yrs. and have been very happy. I joined for the mag and read that there would be afew that where for two months. If you only joined for the free things to try out, that maybe the problem. PLEASE rember that there are a lot of members and that the Companys not only give to NAFC, but also too many others.

I joined to read the other members post to help me know more about thier ways and the chance to meet them. I'm very glad that I did. Yes I got my rod and reel too. The reel even has my name on it. I think that is worth it alone. Because it has my name on it (Get It). I think too many are joining to get free things and not joining to be a MEMBER of a club.
If you look at Bass and NAFC mags. You will see that you get alot more FISHING INFO from NAFC mag. any time. There is NO mag. that you can read that dose not have Ads. That is how they get thier money. I can not believe that any one would not know this. I get a few different mags. and NONE of them come close to the FISHING INFO. that this one give you.

I do not get anything from articles about, how the Pro's did at a event. Those articles do not even talk about how to use or any thing like taht.

I am a very HAPPY LIFE MEMBER.

I do have a problem.  I am a returning member.  My problem is:  I have a couple of things to test, plus a book to review.  But, there was a time limit on the tests, and i cannot get ahold of anybody to inform them that I cannot meet that date (which has already passed).  I have tried the only phone number I have (1-800-843-6232) for the last 3 days. All I get is a computer.  No option for an operator, or any human.  Any suggestions??  I have mailed the club.

Someone stated that they never hear of anyone winning any of the contests.  Welp, I'm here to tell ya that I have won both contests since 2005 when I became a lifer.  The last contest I won was the big trolling motor (this past spring)!  If ya want to see who won, the names are published in the mag AND if the individual hangs out on the web site there is usually a post in the "Miscellaneous Forum"!  We all like to congratulate the winner(s)!

This post was started back in Oct 2009 why can't we jsut let it die. No mater what we do or say some people will never be satisfied. they would complain if you hung em with a new rope. Hand them $5 and they would complain cuz it wasn't $10. I have never won a contest (Oh I guess you have to enter to win) and I could care less. So if you think this club is a joke or you can't wait to cancel then why did you join in the first place ( oh yea the free stuff). If you don't like the way things are run then get out. This is America after all.

Sometimes the "electronic operator" is difficult to navigate with SOME companies.

Try pressing the "zero key" several times...ot the "#" key. Sometimes....that gets you to a REEL person

IF you got the items WITH the book...they are NOT test items...just incentives to BUY the book

I joined this magazine/club cause I thought it was a good deal at the time.  It however has been non stop with the stupid letters trying to get me to be a life member and selling out my information to other companies so they can send me junk mail.  I thought the magazines were monthly and they are not.  That is the only thing I really cared about.  It's cool that they send you some hooks here and there and maybe some other worthless things but its not worth being constantly harassed by there stupid letters in the mail.  I will be calling to cancel refund or not and I guarantee the "North American" Fishing Club goes through a Indian call center

I like to say that the call center sends our phone calls to a company service specialist, but they are not Indian. They are India or Indonesia. For me I get tired of people accusing Indian which is American Indian and not those that have a hard time understanding English. Look man if your no satisfied with the club and your not getting what they are promise you then cancel your membership. This thread has gone on long enough to make a book. If I was going to cancel I would just cancel and wouldn't discuss it on the forum. I know you probably didn't know the difference in India or Indians, so I hope this clarifies it and you don't need to apologise to me or my heritage!
