I think cwalls needs to go stand in a walmart fising isle and see how much info and tips he can find there for all his troubles. cwalls don't go away mad, just go away and leave this club to the "real" fishermen and women.
See ya at wally world.
I fish, Therefore I am......

It's the luck of the draw. I have recieved tons of stuff from the club. But that isnt why I joined. The best part for me is those two goofballs I met in Sparta and LaCrosse that I go fishing with every year. It was definitely worth the money. I would pay much more knowing what I know now. :-)

Why Thank You Fish !!!!It has been this Goofballs honor to fish with ya!!!

hey im new at this 2 ithink this is nothing but a scam. look at all the exotic trips MR.PENNASS . THEY ALWAYS SEND THE MAGAZINES mid to late part of the month. it costs $273.00 per life member. wow im starting to get it

Nobody said you had to go with the life member dues. I'm an annual member and expect to stay that way. Only costs as much as a magazine subscription each year, and if you read other magazines (I also get In-Fisherman, Bass Master, Bassin', and Fly Fisherman) they each cost as much or more than N.A.F.C. membership, and North American Fisherman is as good as any of them. Plus you get this terrific forum. Just how much do you expect for @ $15 a year?

I'm sorry to hear that you are going to cancel your membership. I've been a Life member since 2006 and I've only received a couple of items to test but I didn't join just to get free stuff! I joined for the magazine and I also enjoy the BB. If you want to stop getting offers in the mail just EMail Customer Service, give them your member number and ask them to remove you from the mailing list. This will not effect your magazine being mailed out but will stop the junk mail.

The club's billing department and the delivery department just don't talk. Or the left hand doesn't know what the right hand does. The next magazine issue should be coming. It better not be late...or lost by the post office...or any other number of things.

Well it doesn't matter so much...it's not like there's much of any discussion about magazine articles going on here anyway. It'll usually contain what happend at ICAST back in July.

I myself am dissapointed in the club. When I first joined about 10 years ago I got things in the mail all the time. Free fishing hooks, line, swivels, and I think I even got a lure or 2. Then I decided to become a life member 2005 or 2006. I recieved my rod for becoming life member but am still waiting on my reel and rod case. I've called several times and always get the same response (Its been shipped) they never offer to track the shipment to see why my reel or case has been in the mail for the past 4 or 5 years and they have NEVER offered to re send it. They won't even give me the tracking number so I can check it myself. I don't believe I have gotten anything to test in at least 3 years and just called today because I haven't recieved a magazine in about 6 months or so. Maybe it will get better over time, maybe not. I guess only time will tell. I'm not losing money at this point as i'm here for life, I just feel that club should take better care of thier members.

If one expands there friends list ,one never really knows what free stuff they may get , and this club allows you to do that with folks that share the same love for fishing that you do .

example : free room and board instead of paying for a hotel , free guided fishing trips. free knowledge . free fishing stuff: lures, bait . free dinner . free beverage . free equipment repairs . one never knows where just 1 friendship could lead .
now multiply that buy the number of friends you can make here in a life time . what a bargain

I have been on guided musky fishing , bass fishing, trout fishing outings with my NAFC friends .
so get out there and make some new friends .
Take a kid fishing , If the fish aint biting entertain them. Photobucket

I've been a member for over 8 yrs now and I have to admit I was lured into joining the club by the promise to receive all the "swag". I received what the club promised to send, but alas it wasn't what I was hoping for. I "field tested" (if you will) several packets of spices and 3 or 4 rubber grubs. I religiously clicked on the "click & win"...but never won. I receive the magazine (no complaints there - it compares well to others I used to subscribe to), however I always get it well after its initial issue. The big thing, as the rod tosser , mentions above, is that Ive met many, many great people through the club. I met Deb & Trev while I was in Burnsville, MN for a baseball tourney. We had lunch, chatted it up, and they even gave me a couple of hand tied flies to try. While on another baseball trip in Minny, I met greymist , haven't seen him in years now, but he met me at our hotel and took me fishing for the day. HOW DO YOU BEAT THAT??? I was fortunate to host other members, including Lazarus up at our cottage on Rainy Lake. We broke bread, had a big fish fry at our cabin, told some stories and fished together for several days. I was an original participant with "DA TIE" exchange and continue to swap & receive items to test. Our good friend turnip sent me 6 homemade lures to field test on trout/salmon. I could go on & on now that I start to think back...but in my mind, it's all been worth the price of subscription!

My biggest complaint with this club is: one I don't get enough time to spend with the friends I've met here, two I can't get time to meet more of the people that are here, I would just love to go around North America and hook up (pun intended) with many of the fisherman here. There is so much experience here and much to learn from many of the people here. I've been blessed to meet, fish, and learn from many already and to see and fish many lakes I wouldn't have otherwise. All this for the price of a membership.

Rod and reel combo. $100
Campsite for a night. $22.00
Gas to get there. $ 80.00
Friends you make at a members meet. PRICELESS

Absolutly! I have been blessed with many new friends from this club, something that a test product or mag can't give ya! Like you, Frank, I wanted to travel North America meeting members and fishing in new areas, but the gas prices put a hurting on that...But I am still looking at ways to do it! I remember how Walleyeking#1 (Howard) sent me fishing videos when I was laid up with knee replacement surgery right after I became a lifer in 2005...And he didn't even know me except by the BB...I very much enjoy reading posts made by fellow members, it is the main reason I went lifer. What has really made it worth while is the member meets! This is where I put a face, personality and family with the screen name! So if you think you are or perhaps not getting your moneys worth and you have not been to a member meet then you are short changing yourself...
