i have been a member for over a year and have only received 2 small products to test and that is it. i paid my life time membership and pretty disappointed so far with the testing...... it would appear that we would get more than this to try out.

yeah i get a magazine and access to this website, but thinking it was not worth the $$ so far,

The lifetime membership was the kiss of death!  I haven't gotten anything since I paid for my lifetime membership.  Guess we got reeled in!

we life members all have ben reeled in. as a charter member way back when i got a few things to test, some were good and some were not so good. the things tyhat was worth having i still have and use, even those that are almost 20 yrs. old. like the double side/splite minnow bucket, i put ice in one side and put leachies in the other and they keep all day long. and therer has been a few other things that i have tested, back then. but now that i've been a life member for alsmost 15 yrs. i have tested 2 iteams and both were not worth the shipping to ship them to me.

I'm sure you will get your rod.  I am pleased with my rod and reel, lifetime of magazines and the forum, but haven't gotten any test products since my life membership.

    Hey guys

If you guys don't like the products you get you can always send them my way with 10 kids of my own and 6 grandkids I can alway use free stuff. even the hooks

I've been a member for a long time a LM since 99 I get two maybe three things a year from the club... and two to three test products a month from the venders

I'll leave you with this thought?  it's not what you get but what you do with what you get after you get it!

I haven't gotten anything to like or dislike!  That is what I am saying!!

Rod Tender, Ten Kids!  If I ever do get anything I don't want(don't think I'll be getting a boat to test) you will be first on my list!

On second thought, e-mail me your address, I'll send you some things.

Thanks for the offer..not nesasary to send your test products . LOL   I get enough to test as it is.  I just got a box of soft plastics to test from one of my suppliers there's 1000 peices   that will hold the kids for a month or two LOL

Remember ever test product you get gives you an excuse to go fishing even the small packs of hooks

Rod Tender, glad to hear you are well stocked!  Of course you can't have too much, at least I wouldn't think so.  My kids are grown, so I pretty much fish alone, but can always find an excuse to buy more stuff.  I just would like to try some lures that I haven't seen in stores.

i recently became a member and recieved the hooks in the mail that they give you for joining or considering joining and was dissapointed when i hooked into a bluegill that was only 6 inches long and the whole hook straightened almost. i have recieved e-mails about getting test products but nothing has come in yet but one magazine and i joined in february. to have to join just to get the magazines and other stuff they tell us about and pay a yearly dues upfront they should at least give back to the members by sending the test equipment as promised in the letters and emails or completely drop the test products altogether. why would you tell your kids your gonna take them to get ice cream after a day of fishing if your not going to take them for the ice cream when your done fishing. yeah a day of fishing is enough for anyone to be happy about but if you promise something to someone or several someones you should at least stick to your promise and show that your good for what you say by following through and when you do send a welcome gift like the hooks make sure they won't shit the bed on a little fish. especially for the people like me who have more fun going after big bass and trout.

This post has been on for 9 days now. That tells me that they don't check this very often. For those of you that haven't gotten any test products. Have you registered to get the products? At the bottom of the main home page there is a tab for FAQ. This lists the procedures required to get products and what you must do to receive more products. If you have done all of this and still didn't receive a product within the first year, then you have a legitimate complaint. After all it is part of the sales pitch. I started a post about a group email and call in day on Monday, 4-21. I have a few suggestions myself and I assume others do too. It is not just adds in the magazine. There are several things that could be done better.

I have gotten a dozen or so products to test since I joined, before and after becoming a life member. Some things are pretty cheap where some of them have almost paid for the life membership. I get the products and test them properly and submit a thourough review. I have had products that I did not submit a review for and had for almost 8 months before I could submit a review that made sense and was representative of the product and me using it.

Submit your request for test products, you will get them but make sure to test them properly provide accurate information. Simply keeping it for a couple weeks and then submitting a review so you can get the next one doesn't do anyone any good except yourself. The only product I couldn't test the way I wanted to was a casting assistant for fly rods and this was because the company wanted test reviews before I had a chance to test it properly.

I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER FOR MANY YEARS AND A LIFEMEMBER FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS. I HAVE RECEIVED QUITE A FEW THINGS TO TEST THOUGH VERY LITTLE OF ANY VALUE. OFTEN I WONDER IF THEY READ WHAT OUR FISHING HABITS ARE LAST YEAR I FILLED OUT A TEST FORM AND ONLY LISTED SALMON AS A TARGET FISH A FEW WEEKS LATER I GOT MY TEST PRODUCT A BAG OF CRAPIE CREATURE BAIT NOT VERY EFFECTIVE FOR SALMON AND KIND OF LATE IN THE SEASON FOR CRAPPIE FOR ME AS I ONLY FISH FOR PANFISH IN THE SPRING BETWEEN STEELHEAD AND SALMON. BUT I HAVE A NICE TROUT LAKE NEAR ME THAT ALSO HAS SOME NICE CRAPPIE AND GILLS SO I WENT FISHING WITH MY TEST PRODUCT. EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT DO ALLTHAT WELL I GAVE IT A GOOD REVIEW AS I CAUGHT FISH WITH IT AND HONESTLY DID NOT FEEL I HAD GIVEN IT A GOOD TEST BECAUSE  AFTER CATCHING SEVERAL DECENT FISH I FOUND MYSELF SITTING ON A LARGE SCHOOL OF RAINBOW TROUT WHICH ENDED MY TEST SESSION. SO ON THE WAY HOME I DECIDED A GOOD REVIEW WAS IN ORDER AS IT HAD PROVIDED ME WITH A GREAT DAY OF FISHING WHICH I WOULD HAVE MISSED HAD IT NOT CAME IN THE MAIL. JUST IN CASE THE EDITORS EVER READ THIS I AVERAGE ABOUT 80 TO100 HOURS A YEAR FISHING ON SMALL LAKES FOR TROUT AND PANFISH, SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 150 AND 200 HOURS A YEAR ON LAKE MI FOR SALMON AND TROUT INCLUDING A FEW TOURNAMENTS I HAVE 4 TOURNAMENTS PLANNED FOR THIS YEAR, I SPEND ABOUT 60 TO 80 HOURS A YEAR IN THE RIVERS HUNTING SALMON AND STEELHEAD. 0 MIN SPENT BASS FISHING AND VERY LITTLE ICE FISHING. I ALSO FISH FOR WALLEYE BUT DON'T REALLY HAVE A HOUR TOTAL  FOR THEM OR PERCH.  THINGS I WISH I COULD TEST, RADAR FOR MY NEW 26ft BOAT, BLACK BOX FOR MY DOWNRIGGERS, ALL OF THE NEW E CHIP GEAR I DON'T HAVE YET, I HAVE A DEPTH RAIDER BUT WOULD BE OK WITH TESTING ONE OF THE OTHER SPEED TEMP PROBES SIDE BY SIDE AGAINST IT, WHEN THEY GET MY NEW AUTOPILOT SYSTEM INSTALLED I WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW HOW IT WORKS. OH YEA AND I REALLY WANT A COUPLE OF WIRE LINE DIPSEY RIGS BUT I AM WAY OVER BUDGET FOR THIS SEASON AND IF I BUY ANY MORE GEAR I WON'T BE ABLE TO AFFORD GAS TO FISH.

    TIGHT LINES

Hi all, I too am a life member since 97, I have also gotten a few test products, nothing to brag about but hey they were things that I haven't tried before and enjoyed using them . Now one thing to remember , once you get a test product , you have to re-register for another test product to get another one . its like starting all over again . New product = New Application. Do not re-apply = do not get another product . Very simple rules and makes sense to me .

I also got my rod and reel and I'm very pleased with it , as far as the membership fee's , one thing about it , I don't have to worry about a subscription invoice for a LONG time and will have very many magazines packed with some very useful information to help in my fishing adventures . So look at the bright side , no dues to worry about for years to come , got s nice rod and reel , and just send in another application for a test product and before you know it another one will be in the mail . As a matter of fact I too have to send in another one . Good luck you all and have a great fishing day !

hi everyone, glad to see alot of you are actually out there. thanks for all your comments. i do have to agree that the magazines are nice and no dues ever again is a plus.

i have only been fishing for 2 years and i am like a baby learning to walk and having to relearn the sport since i was out of it forever. acutally the last time i went fishing was in 1984.

anyway there is lots to learn and if i do catch something, the bass have been 3 plus pounders but there are lots of days with no bites. :?( i did catch one 8.5 pound large mouth last year.

anyway i love to fish and glad to be here with you all.

    happy fishing from North Texas.

    Clint
