has anyone ever heard of the bows fishing lures provided for trout fishing? i recently purchased one from a local bait shop, here in michigan and the bass in our local lakes love these things, even though they were made for trout. i would suggest you look into these i swear by them. they are made by john eggers, at eggersco@netzero.net or featured at catch-n.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1106

    Hey JC
The Bows spinners are built by hand by John Eggers in Rochester, MN. Right now distribution is fairly limited to shops in MI, WI, MN, IA, IL and CO. John says you can't get them at catch-n.com anymore, but he'll have a website up and running soon. I plan on fishing with John in the near future, and hope to have more info to share afterward.

I have been making this style of lure for the past 20 years. Mostly for my own pleasure but also to send to the UK where my brother and his buddys use them for rainbows and browns. I have also shipped them to Zimbarbwee  where they use them on the Zambezie for Tiger fish. I have also used them on lake Erie for bass and walleye. These lures are deadly in the spring in the shallow fast warming water or used as a countdown lure in deeper water. They work well on a 3ft lead behind a bottom bouncer with a worm to help attract the walleye. I thought everyone had forgotten about these very exellent lures but i guess not.

I read the article on the Bow Series and immediately went to the website and did not have any trouble finding it--nice site.  Of course, the problem with any hand made lure is there are always more hands wanting them than hands making them.  It amused me a little because on the same day I saw some great handmade lures in forums by some of our members.  I would love to see us come up with a spot that tells which members make lures.  I use to make lures but my eyesight keeps me from doing things like tying flies or jigs anymore but there are plenty of members who can.  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.
