Kromer its probably just the area you live try using some fresh shrimp or frozen, trout use their sense of smell just like catfish do, they will even eat chicken liver like a cat does, they will also act like a bass and hit jigs as well try using a chartreuse 1/32-1/16 twister-tail, just depends on the area you live in.

Even when I had my boat watching shows or reading articles really doesn't help you catch fish. Learning to use a fish finder is the key. Anyway. I'm with you guys. I sold my boat, and I love fishing small creeks from the shore. Beats trying to keep your boat in the spot you need to be in without a foot controlled trolling motor.

Steve Pennaz here. Guys, thanks for the suggestions--we'll keep them in mind as we plan the 2010 season.

I spend at least 6 hrs trolling for salmon on Lake Michigan every week,  and 70-80% of my fishing hours are from shore. The term Bank Fishing to me conjures up an image of a bunch of fisherfolk standing in one spot on shore with 12-20' poles fishing for either carp or panfish. Not my cup of tea. I fish bass, walleye and northern from shore with reasonable results and occasionally land an incidental cat. Shore fishing to me is much more of a challenge! More shore fishing articles please!
