I've been a member of NAFC for nearly a year. I saw that there was a program of North American Fisherman from the beginning, but didn't know where to find it locally. I just last month ran into it somehow and found it was airing on Versus in the the Tacoma WA area. I have no idea of how much I have missed.
I do know this, I despise Knot Wars! Tie the knot, test it, but WHERE does it break? At the hook eye, on the line above the knot? Somewhere IN the knot? I have no way of knowing, it's so useless!

The knot usually always breaks because of cheap hooks,Ive never had a knot break but have had the end of the hook ,where the eye meets the shank, cut the knot several times . I use a clinch, bai loop, and a snell knot and have never had the knot break. Check your hooks for sharp ends where the eye circles around and ends at the shank. Spend the money on Name brand hooks and avoid the problem all together.

Steve Pennaz , Executive Director of the NAFC here. Thanks for the feedback and the comments. I would like to comment on walleyeguy77's question about why the NAFC's television program, North American Fisherman, is distributed on Versus (a network distributed by cable/satellite) versus broadcast or free television. The issue is simply cost. Broadcast television is extremely expensive, particularly for national distribution, and like everyone these days we are watching expenses carefully. The good news is, the show is available on-line for free. Just head back to the home page and click on the NAF-TV tab for a selection of recent shows.--Steve

    Steve:

Watched this morning's show and found it amusing that your segment on brown trout with Eric was basically the same content as Babe Winkleman's show that immediatly preceded it, right down to the same guide! I missed the first couple of minutes, were you also fishing Milwaukee harbor? Looked alot like Kenosha to me, but TV shots can be decieving. Good show.

Just out of curiosity, where in the US aren't you able to get cable from some company or Satelite tv ?? I cant imagine where it would be?? Just curious. I can understand someone not wanting to pay for it, but where can't you get it at all??

I have cable t.v. but for some reason or another I can never catch  the N A F C show from beginning to end. I thought I had solved the problem when I found the online version last night. Guess what? I spent an hour trying to get different shows from different seasons, starting with this season's shows and they either would not play or they would play first few seconds, with no audio, and then would completely stop. Any solutions?

One more thing. The few times I have caught the show on T.V. the background music of the "Knot  Wars" segment is too loud, drowning out part of what is said and it is goes too fast for me to keep up or do me any good. Thanks.

it's true cable and or satllite may be all over  but there are some on limited income cant afford those luxeries.  also I too spent hundreds on life membership and have got the shaft. I was promised a feild test item over a year ago and never recivied a thing. I gave up trying to make contact because they never answered mail. I figure paid a lot for an ocasional magazine.

I am curious about two things. First is how the recent purchase of NBC will affect the club show(if at all) and second, how long does it normally take for a show episode to make it to the site once it has aired? Additionally, some of the problems members have expressed concerning online viewing might be a result of the speed of their internet connection. My connection is DSL and at times it is challenged when dealing with video. Dial up might just be impossible.

I can tell you Pegsguy that dial up is pretti much out of the question when trying to view most videos. even my connection here at work is iffy at times.

Here's the word from Steve Pennaz: "The recent purchase of NBC will not have any impact on North American Fisherman’s 2011 season. I suspect the network will rename and rebrand Versus in 2011 to something like NBC Sports, and we have no plans to be anywhere else. We try to post the current episodes on FishingClub.com within a couple weeks of airing, but that varies at times of extreme workload.”

Note: The most-recent "North American Fisherman" episode is indeed online. View it here:

jsanchez: You're right, if you click "Video/TV," it takes you to a menu of this season's shows, which did not feature catfishing. However, I took a minute to check the archives and found this for you:

    http://www.fishingclub.com/video-tv...er-catfish

It's a North American Fisherman episode titled "Mid-Summer Catfish."

And here's a link to seven pages worth of links on this website to NAF magazine and/or FishingClub.com Web Extra articles that mention catfish:

    Enjoy!
